Food was awesome (I forgot how tasty the A&W drive in food was!!), kids meals come with a free cone, and the options around the property for where to eat help you pick what works best for you (outside table shaded/sun, in your car, and full dining room). The dining room had oldies music playing, which was super fun. The only drawback was how dirty the inside dining room got when it was busy. They didn’t have enough staff to handle all the orders on top of clearing tables and wiping them down. Many of the booth seats were also ripped. An upgrade in the seating and 1 more staff to keep the dining room clean on a busy night would go a long way!!

Haven’t been to a pull up A&W in years, was great, and the food was delicious. Had to take my daughter to Mayo Clinic for her cancer and seen it on the way back home to Iowa so of course had to stop and was not disappointed!!

Glad they have an indoor eating area. During the winter you can order outside for takeout…unless you really want to sit in a cold vehicle and eat. Food is good though I’m not a big fan of burgers and fries.

Many good memories of going here, but after sending a burger back because it wasn’t cooked….TWICE, all the dirty tables, and being mostly ignored I don’t think we’ll be going back anytime soon. I also remember a mug of rootbeer being full when it was brought out

7 of us met for birthday dinner. big order made from the outdoor dining area. food was great. was hot and fresh. some of the order wasn’t correct and we had to ask for straws, napkins and ketchup and dipping sauce but other than that we were happy with having a place we could all meet at and have a meal together. Everyone was full and happy. Always a treat to eat at the root beer stand!

We were looking for somewhere for a bite to eat before we hit up Deer Creek Speedway, and saw there was an A&W in Spring Valley and knew we had to go. Our server was friendly, the food was good, the giant root beer was refreshing. Overall, it was a fine meal.

I’ve lived in the community for a number of years having limited options A&W stands out. The outdoor seating and old school drive in is a fun experience. Being seasonal it’s always great to see it open for the year. The staff are always awesome. Very friendly and courteous. They certainly work harder than other fast food locations and that should be noted. At the same time it doesn’t feel like fast food as a simple order of a gallon of root beer to go can take 30 minutes to receive. Eating at other A&W locations I have to mention it certainly seems the amount of salt used is excessive, I have literally tossed my burger on more than one occasion due to it’s similarity to a salt lick and I’m not the only one in my party who has experienced this. The service while great is slow and the food while good all seems salt cured. A mushroom Swiss burger really shouldn’t be that salty. I’ll certainly eat here again the root beer is awesome and a summer day at a table on the lawn with a frosty mug is a good time, I’d recommend asking for no salt.

Not impressed. Burgers were sloppy with way to much lettuce and sauce. I also don’t know why this A&W does not have the Sriracha cheese curds. Root beer was not cold. I won’t be returning to this location again.

I’m 5 starring this because of the ambience of an old fashioned drive-in that we are told has been there since the days of old. Cars pull up, order through a speaker and a car hop brings you food. They have fantastic old fashioned root beer floats! Their food is typical of other kinds of fast food, to expect a gourmet experience would be silly. Shakes, malts, floats, burgers, fries, onion rings, etc is what you can expect. There are many spots to pull up and order from your car, they also have a small indoor space for dining and a grassy area with some tables and iconic statues where you can eat too. It is a unique and quirky place to stop along highway 63.
