The Coffman Review
On our way to Madison we stopped in Greensburg at this throwback A&W root beer stand. It gave all the nostalgic vibes with car-side service, trays hanging off of windows, and a large menu of feel-good treats.
We ordered:
Coney Cheese Dog
Cheese Curds
Root Beer in a mug
Chicken Gizzards
Breaded Mushrooms
The Cheese curds were actually better than Culvers. The root beer was super smooth, with an extra hint of vanilla compared to grocery store A&W. It was my first time trying chicken gizzards. I would compare it to calimari, in that the breading was good and the meat was chewy. I thought they were ok but my wife loved them!
The fried mushrooms were comparatively boring; they should’ve used the gizzard breading. Coney dog was simple and nicely sweet. We didn’t have enough time to wait for fried chicken, but a reader tells me it is amazing.
We’ll definitely be back!

Was not expecting a car hop but this was not an unwelcome surprise. The server was very friendly and helpful. The food was largely excellent but it seemed like the fries were a little old since they were a bit on the soggy side. Burgers were superb. Chicken tenders were very good.
This is going to be a regular stop for my family since it is roughly halfway between our home and Indy children’s museum

Food and root beer were great. The car hop service was fun and fast, our car hopper was super nice and inviting! Only took a star off because the bathrooms were a little rough. Would come back!

There are more worried about being on their phone and they miss like two to three items in the damn bag that they should have gave me. It’s kind of funny man. It’s like worry about doing your job, but then they probably want more money like dude, you know, you deserve only $10 an hour.

Not going to lie, I didn’t know this was here. I’m not from the area, but travel through a lot. Now that I k own it’s here, it will be a regular stop. The service was great and the atmosphere was awesome. Stop in and try it when you’re in the area.

Ate there on a Sunday evening. Food was cold at 90 degrees outside. Service was not good. We saw many people served after us. Burgers bland. So disappointed. I stopped there out of nostalgia. Definitely won’t be back

Sit in your car and have your food brought to you on a tray that hooks on your window. Enjoy an A&W Root beer in a frosty mug. The staff is very friendly and prompt. The food is sooo good. This location also offers fried chicken, it’s the best around.

Great place to eat! One of the last drive-in restaurants around with actual car hops to take your order. An authentic detail to the past is to turn on your headlights to place your order! Awesome footlong coney dogs! My favorite is the fried chicken basket! And you can’t forget the Root Beer Float!
