We had a special Valentine’s Day dinner and couldn’t be happier. We were greeted with a long stem rose and every thing that followed was just as thoughtful. The food was abundant starting with a complimentary dish of hummus olives and peppers along with bread and pita wedges and incredibly delicious olive oil. Both of us had fish for dinner— perfectly prepared and freshly-imported whole fish was available too. The service was excellent and Tatiana was particularly great, pleasant and attentive and encouraged us to take our time and enjoy the evening. A definite must place for excellent hospitality and Greek food in NYC!

Opa! What a great Greek experience that’s in the middle of Lexington.

Zucchini chips that is paired with tzatziki sauce is an order that is a must.

Classic spread to enjoy the tastes of the Mediterranean.

Scallops were cooked to perfection.

Wait staff very attentive and the ambiance is filled with guests who enjoys seafood.

Will return.

Very nice Greek restaurant in Midtown . We came from the 9/11 memorial which was incredible. We needed a simple delicious lunch and this was the perfect place. We had the prix fix lunch and it was perfect for all 5 of us . My kids loved the steak and lamb chops .

The Avra Estiatorio is amazing and well-renowned restaurant that offers guests superb quality service and highly delicious Greek style cuisine ranging from grilled fish, lamb chops, lobster pasta and many other dishes.

In September of 2025, I brought and treated my wife and myself for dinner at Avra Estiatorio, specifically the Avra 48th Street branch to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We very much enjoyed our dining experience!!!

We were kindly greeted by the restaurant’s staff and were quickly provided with a very clean and comfortable dining table.

Both my wife and I were impressed with the restaurant’s ambiance and interior settings. We definitely enjoyed viewing the chic white color scheme on the walls and ceiling, dim lighting, the marble floor and display of fresh food, all of which helped evoke an image of a serene and tranquil Greek courtyard or village.

Our server, Esmeralnta S and her colleague were both consummate professionals. They both did a great job on addressing our menu inquiries, properly documenting our orders, and routinely checked with us to see if we were having a great time and enjoying our meals. They were very kind and welcoming and made us feel right at home.

In addition to great atmosphere and settings, both my wife and I loved our meals. We both ordered and enjoyed our appetizers and our lamb chops entree. We found our meal to be mouthwatering delicious because it was perfectly cooked and superbly seasoned!!! Additionally, our cheesecake dessert was off the charts and wonderfully delightful!!!

My wife and I would love to thank Avra Estiatorio for providing us with an exceptional and memorable dining experience, and for helping to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We highly recommend for everyone to visit and dine at this outstanding restaurant!!!

The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a very pleasant atmosphere. It’s clearly a well-designed space and a nice place to spend an evening. Our server was excellent — attentive, professional, and genuinely friendly throughout the meal. The service was honestly one of the highlights of the experience. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite meet the expectations set by the setting and service. While the presentation was nice, the dishes themselves felt somewhat lacking in flavor and didn’t really stand out the way I had hoped. With such a great location, ambiance, and attentive staff, I expected the food to be a bit more memorable. Hopefully the kitchen continues refining the menu, because the restaurant definitely has a lot of potential.

Avra 48 is right by my apartment. I usually go to the 60th & Madison location but wanted to give this one another try. Service was great and the brunch/lunch deal is unbeatable.

Went on a Sunday at 4pm—it was quiet, we sat outside for two hours and never felt rushed. Food was excellent: the Greek salad (always a hit), hot and flaky spanakopita, and the branzino—which Avra first made me fall in love with. They kindly removed the head when I asked, and it was still a 10/10. Dessert was the strawberry cheesecake—tiny portion, but creamy and delicious.

Great food and service! Amazing atmosphere, pretty high level attention to detail and great service. The only downside in my opinion is that it takes a while for the main entrees to come out. I believe we waited around 25-30 minutes after ordering them. Also it is very loud in there, you can only talk to the people next to you.

Free, unlimited pita and hummus starters with the most heavenly hummus I have ever tasted. The sea bass was perfectly cooked (moist, fatty, and balanced) with a tomato sauce that gently complimented the natural flavors of the fish. The atmosphere here is great and the servers take their jobs seriously

Appetizers including calamari and dips were really good. Ordered the 3 course option and the apps came out really quick. The main course took extremely long and when the chicken frites came out they were pretty dry and kind of underwhelming. Probably need to order something else if I went again, but overall it was a good experience. Lobster pasta was really good when I tried a bit off someone else’s plate and I kind of regretted ordering the chicken.

I will never return to this restaurant, which is extremely unfriendly toward Asians.

Our reservation was for 8:15 PM. I arrived a few minutes early and checked in at the front desk. The hostess abruptly said, “The table isn’t ready, wait,” and left me standing at the entrance with no further explanation or guidance. I was left there awkwardly while people walked past me constantly.

After waiting another 7–8 minutes, I asked if I could sit at the bar while waiting. She replied, “Just sit there yourself,” without any direction or assistance.

By nearly 8:30 PM, I told them to please inform me once the table was ready. What made this situation even more frustrating was that from the moment I entered, there were clearly many empty tables that remained unused the entire time, despite my reservation.

Once seated, I ordered a bottle of still water while waiting for my friend. At that point, I had completely lost the desire to dine and chose to pay only for the water and leave.

Additionally, while I was waiting at the bar, there was no communication at all between the front desk and the bar staff regarding my situation or the fact that I was waiting for a friend. The bartender later looked me up and down and asked what I was there for. When I explained that I was waiting for someone, he completely disengaged and stopped providing any service—he did not even offer a glass of water.

I will be informing all of my Asian friends that this is a restaurant with serious racial discrimination issues, and I will absolutely never return.
