I am glad that I found this spot only 15 mins away from me, their food was pretty good. The guy at the counter was very nice, the place in Pine Plains could learn a thing or two from him. I had the al pastor tacos. My only complaint is that the rice was white instead of that yummy orange rice that we all know and love. We will definitely be ordering again, the guy said they are opening for breakfast as well.

I had no clue this place existed… Now I will try and drop by every time I’m around. It’s tucked away on the back side of a big building right on the state line. As others have said in reviews, this is a great option for Mexican food around here!

First time trying their food after moving to the area three years ago. Used to very good Mexican restaurants downstate & was disappointed with this one. Food was not the quality I expected. I was expecting a bill of around $30, but was charged $40 for an order of chips & salsa, mole poblano burrito & an order of chorizo tacos. Wouldn’t have minded the $10 surcharge if the food met expectations. Fool me once…

Surprisingly good Mexican food for being this far away from the border. The al pastor was top notch, fresh tortillas, and tasty guacamole. Get the food to go.

Whenever I’m in Millerton I stop by the little gem for great Mexican food. Went in for guacamole but the avocado weren’t ripe and got carnitas enchiladas to go. Living 45 minutes away I usually carry an insulated bag but had to settle for the passenger seat heater on high to keep them warm and it was brutally cold that day. It worked! Great rice and beans too. Hope next time the guac is available. Always good.

Very disappointed. Ordered spicy Jalisco burrito W/black beans, no rice. There was maybe a tablespoon of meat in it and all black beans. Plus they did not have any of their usual sauces in the little cups, like the green cilantro salsa, salsa verde, red d’arbol salsa. Only some weird super spicy salsa. Though their guacamole was good. They are very chincy in the meat in the burritos. Inconsistent. Next time ordering a meat burrito with no rice OR beans – bet it will be empty.

I used to love coming here for lunch. If this was just about the food, 5 stars all day. They don’t “open” until 12 now, and sometimes don’t even answer the phone at 12. Most of us in town have a lunch break that starts at 12, so we really need to place an order before so that we can get back to work on time. A lot of time’s I will wait until 12 to order, and they still don’t answer the phone. At that point, I’ve lost my opportunity to order from somewhere else due to the time.

I wish they would open at 11:30 and pick up the phone. I would probably eat here everyday!

Totally fulfilled my nacho craving, super generous toppings. Particularly great rice / salsas that came on the side of our order. I ate vegetarian tonight and was super satisfied, though the meat options smelled awesome when we walked in. Great small business and awesome food. Glad we stopped by to try out Avocado Cafe!

To note, the online ordering said it wasn’t working so we gave a call to put the order in and they picked up right away. Pick up only right now given covid but there were a couple picnic tables outside.

My partner hails from southern California and after being out here for 4 years we finally found Mexican food that is authentic. The “spicy” food is actually spicy and delicious, the atmosphere is very down to earth and the prices are extremely reasonable for the amount of food you get. Say goodbye to bland Mexican restaurants that compensate for their gross food with too many decorations and go to the Avocado Cafe. Staff is wonderful, polite, and easy to talk to. Couldn’t be happier that we stumbled across this gem.

Very yummy burritos, fajitas and other Mexican food freshly prepared and authentic. Lovely owner and staff. This past Saturday they helped cater the Memorial Event I had for my husband. They did a wonderful job and were so very helpful during a difficult time. Ivan, the owner is a lovely man.
