Have never met an Avila’s that I didn’t love; today was no exception! Set along a quaint thoroughfare, with free angled street parking. It has a small footprint and they utilize every inch of it; so much charm, family/community history. Lauren J was the epitome of this brand; I was welcomed and treated like family. Adore their homemade salsa, chunky with fresh yumminess and a nice bite. The Grande Taco Salad with grilled chicken and a side of fajita veggies was delicious, huge – you get your money’s worth! This is a home run with filling, super delicious, affordable Mexican food in a fun location.

My wife and I ordered online, GrubHub delivery.
I ordered Tacos and Caldo, which was described as two crispy tacos and a cup of Avila’s soup. I received two wet and soggy taquitos, (not tacos) and cold tasteless cup of chicken soup.
My wife ordered a shredded beef tostada and it was soggy, floating in water and cold. Our meals were terrible!
GrubHub delivered our dinner in a short time, less than 30 minutes from time of placing the order. We only live about 5 miles from Avila’s El Ranchito on Main St. Seal Beach.
We will never go to or order again from Avila’s El Ranchito Seal Beach.

Stopped in at the bar for about an hour to have a beer and appetizer. The waiter immediately brought me chips and salsa. Ordered a quesadilla but it was kind of bland. The salsa tasted like the sauce was from out of a can. The bartender was attentive but not very friendly she didn’t even tell me goodbye when I left. Best part was probably the Negro modelos I ordered!

I had been wanting to try this place. Went for the first time, Sunday afternoon, there were many empty tables so I couldn’t really fall on “well, they were busy” as reason for the poor service. Also the food wasn’t good, even accounting for the good location and what their exorbitant operating costs must be. Not here to post angrily, just really a mediocre at best experience for the price.
I ordered a margarita and it came out after my entree arrived and was wrong, even after the server and I confirmed what margaritas were blended and which weren’t. He tried to get me to keep it and I had to refuse three times. Then he asked if I wanted my drink as I’d ordered but I had already gotten my food (that was also mediocre) and just wanted to leave.
I ended up just asking for a coke which came late and was a glass full of ice with little soda. The server knew he messed up so didn’t come check if I needed anything for a long time so I only had a little soda after the drink mistake and was still charged for the soda.
I ordered the chili Verde. The plate was $23 and the chili Verde had okay but pretty salty flavor. The texture and appearance was 4/10. I wouldn’t have ever again.
Rice was not good. Beans were fine.
I wouldn’t go here ever again.

Invited my Aunt to brunch, I got there 15 minutes early and was turned away. So we walked around a bit and I came back to wait outside. Some other group came by with 5 minutes left to open and the staff let them in. Whatever, maybe they are friends. But that other group receieved drinks and had appetizers out before we even get asked what we want to drink? Pretty silly to me.
The other group had left by the time our food comes out, I was very happy with my choice (shrimp) but the waiter never came back to check if we needed refills or anything else until it was clear we were done eating. Maybe I just got a rude waiter. I’d go again to double-check.

Love. Attentive service with our large group, great filling fish and carnitas and asada tacos. Great prices for happy hour. Fun old town location.

I love this location. The restaurant is beautiful. The food is delicious. I’m a huge fan of albondigas soup. It was perfect. They didn’t skimp on the meatballs. I love the chips and salsa. Everyone at my table was really happy with their food and drinks. My only suggestion is that the servers could be a tiny bit more friendly. I know that it’s very busy and so they want to get people out but when you go out to eat you also want to enjoy your time and not feel like you’re so rushed to leave. I still highly recommend it.

Yummy traditional Mexican food at Avila’s El Ranchito on Seal Beach’s Main Street! The chips and salsa were fresh and tasty and bought us some time to look over the menu! I ordered the fresh guacamole and chips to start and then chicken fajitas for the entree! Both were so good I would come back anytime! The beach and good Mexican food go hand in hand!! Def worth stopping in!

The food was very delicious. The meat was very soft, perfectly cooked. The shrimp were the bomb, big and lots of flavor.
Two delicious plates a water and a coke for less than $55 including chips and salsa.

Prices are good, location is okay, people are nice and accommodating. Parked in a nearby public parking (3$), not too busy around 5pm. The food arrived straight away, it was good. The food is a little on the bland side, there’s no overwhelming taste and there weren’t any sauces on the table. I had to ask for some hot sauce to add more flavor to give it some heat. This isn’t typical of me to ask for extra hot sauce! I think I would pass on it moving forward.
