We had some time between picking up kids at the Newark airport and needed some food, so we did a quick ChatGPT and found Avenue Grill and Sushi.
We were so happy with this place! The Mixed Grill was delicious! Side or rice and grilled veggies were super tasty also. Large portions. We loved the Pulled BBQ sandwich and the fries were super tasty.
Their Sushi was also very fresh. We had a salmon and avocado roll that was excellent and took two rolls to go to the second airport pickup.
The staff stayed open late for us. We called on the way from EWR and they actually made it all for us so that it was ready when we arrived. Excellent service! We will return when we’re in the area again. Toda raba!

Great place if you are in the area. Fast and fresh. I was there at 7pm and I was the only one there, more indicative of location. Did not like the run down Neighboorhood or block. Staff was friendly and courteous and food was good and inexpensive.

I’m updating my review to 2024 without editing the original. This is a 4 star kosher restaurant because the food is very well prepared, it’s fresh, the service is fast and friendly and knowledgeable and the food area is dated hut clean. The neighborhood and neighbors aren’t the best and the back of the restaurant is somewhat dated but on a Sunday night in August they were full with locals and travelers like us. We really enjoyed our dinner, from taste to speed to price. All good.

I was reading through some reviews and just want to correct some things that other people said:
1. Someone said the area is seedy – definitely not true. We decided to come here and would do take out for the reason mentioned but then saw that the area is perfectly fine. There is plenty of stores and restaurants on the avenue and we decided to sit down for dinner instead of take-out. The area feels safe and we even felt safe parking our car here. There is parking in the back too.
2. Someone said they only take cash. – Definitely not true either. They take credit cards.
We ended up ordering the chicken poppers, garlic fries and shawarma laffa and everything was great.
5 stars. Would come back again for sure.

I ordered delivery from this restaurant and was blown away by how good everything was! The food arrived hot, fresh, and full of flavor – were perfectly seasoned, and the textures were just right — crispy where they should be, tender where it matters.
You can really tell the ingredients are high quality and made with love. Even after delivery, everything tasted like it came straight out of the kitchen. The portions were generous, the packaging was neat, and nothing leaked or got soggy.

Honestly one of my favorite restaurants right now.
I went in expecting nothing special, but walked off with some of the best lamb chops I’ve had in quite some time.
The waiters were very courteous and the staff overall were extremely warm, helpful, and kind.
I will definitely be returning.

For better visibility, due to hunger, pictures show half of meal. Burger was good, patty appeared performed out of a box, and not the better brands. For the burger with pastrami, downside it was not grilled. Every other place I’ve been they usually grill the pastrami, now I know for next time. Got the garlic fries and they were awesome, definitely recommend. Kids enjoyed the chicken nuggets and hotdog. Plus my daughter, who loves her sushi enjoyed the California roll. Good spot in mid jersey, we will return at some point.
