Grabbed a pepperoni pie for an easy dinner at our resort after a long day. This pizza is actually pretty good, we’ll likely order again the next time we stay at Sand Dunes or close to it. Yes it is greasy and the cheese will slide off a bit when you take a bite – that’s the best kind of pizza! This pizza is similar to NY-style with a crispy-chewy crust and foldable slices.
Conveniently located next to lobby in main building of Sand Dunes resort with easy pickup, and online ordering options (including through Uber Eats and Door Dash). Easy walk-in and out if you’re not staying at the resort also. Small dining area available too, which is nice if you want to grab a bite to eat while waiting on your room to be ready. Reasonably priced as well, the prices are close to what we’d pay in MD at some of our local places.
Editing to add I also met the owner, Mike – very nice guy! The pizzeria is family-owned. My boys wanted some pizza on the beach today after having it last night, so got a small for the two of them to split for lunch! Just as good as it was last night for dinner!

i wanted to grab a slice of pizza, but it looked kind of cold, so i sat at the top by the indoor pool to see how busy they get. Ive seen both people on register wipe their nose, touch their hair, touch their shoes, and touch their phone and literally not one time did they wash their hands. The first guy put a bill(maybe a 10) RIGHT on the prep counter while the baker is rolling the pizza dough. i watched a shift change and still the only person to wash their hands was the person making the pizza, but then he gave a fist bump to one of the guys at the register . i see why there’s so many food poisoning reviews

First off, we’ve had a condo in the area for over 30 years. We were excited to see the new pizzeria in the place of the old one. Excitement stopped there. There is a gentleman working there that seemed so annoyed at us ordering. It was weird. We ordered anyway and while the pizza was good, it was extremely greasy. We tried absorbing some with paper towels. It got worse from there. My husband and I have been sick since eating it (last night). Both up at 5am super sick and have been all day. It’s the only thing we ate the same. We didn’t feel great right after eating, but had no clue it would be this bad. Eat here at your own risk. I honestly hope it gets better. We need a good pizza place at the beach

Location was convenient, located inside of the hotel we vacationed at and directly below the indoor pool if you wanted to grab a bite and still swim. However, the customer service is horrific! The older guy has ZERO personality and does not care about customer experience. We ordered a 16” pizza and wasn’t offered any plates or napkins for our table. We had to go up and ask for everything. Not to mention, the pizza was greasy and the cheese slid right off

Pizza overall was really good, service on the other hand…. We came in at 8.30 on a Friday to get pizza by the slice and were told they didn’t have any, I guess that’s a thing now? Speaking to the man at the register was quite sad because the south is known for friendly folks, but this guy… I don’t know what ava did to him, but the cardboard box the pizza came in was friendlier than him. If they can get their customer service in line, I think they have a good future.

do not eat from here! We took a family vacation and ate pizza two nights ago. My husband was violently ill!! Thanking god that my two small children did not eat the pizza or we would have been in ER!! When I approached the manager about it, he did not seem to care, he was smiling, did not apologize or take any ownership, and simply asked if he could shake my hand as he didn’t want the other customers in line to hear about what happened!!

So you may be like me, at home relaxing, watching tv when your friend says “let’s grab pizza” If so, Ava’s ain’t the move. If Dave Portnoy reviews this place he’d give it a 2.3. as far as one bite goes terrible pizza and it was ice cold. I’d rather eat dominos than this place. Lovely employees though, just pizza was terrible.
