Stopped in for breakfast and had a solid experience. The omelette was generous and filling, stuffed well and topped with melted cheese that added great flavor. Toast was nicely browned and fresh. Portions were good and everything came out hot. Simple, classic breakfast done right. Would come back again, especially if you’re looking for a satisfying morning meal.

We stopped here for breakfast after a conference, and it was such a great choice! The waitress was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and our food came out quickly. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the menu has a huge selection of breakfast options, truly something for everyone. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area and looking for a great breakfast spot!

Avanti’s: Where Breakfast Is a Family Tradition (Whether You Like It or Not)

One of the best things about northern towns like Erie, PA, is that people still appreciate mom-and-pop restaurants. You can leave the upper Peach Street jungle of Chick-fil-A and Chipotle behind and instead choose to support a place where your money doesn’t vanish into the pockets of corporate overlords.

Nestled between an insurance office, a T-shirt shop, and a few residential homes on West 8th Street, Avanti’s is the type of place where you better know the Sunday and Mother’s Day strategy: arrive before the church crowd forms a line that looks like a holy pilgrimage. We showed up at 8:30 a.m. and got our pick of tables in either of the two dining rooms. There’s even extra seating at the counter, where you can pretend to be a local regular, even if you’re not.

Our server, Deanna, got our drink orders and gave our two daughters, who showed up fashionably ten minutes late, time to scan the menu. I quickly found myself facing a dilemma: the cheeseburger omelet was calling my name, but then I saw the corned beef hash. And just as I was about to decide, I laid eyes on the pierogi and Polish sausage hash—a combination that I’m pretty sure would make my ancestors proud. But in the end, I committed to the corned beef eggs Benedict.

And let me tell you, my eggs Benedict was everything it needed to be. Salty corned beef, perfectly poached eggs, a toasty English muffin, and a velvety hollandaise sauce that I’d probably drink by the cup if it were socially acceptable. Served alongside crispy hash browns, the portion was just right. We also sampled the coffee cake on special—dense, sweet, and honestly more like a pound cake, but I’m not complaining.

Daughter #2 went for a garden omelet with sourdough, keeping it wholesome. Daughter #1 and Mom both kept it classic with eggs and toast, though Mom ventured into adventurous territory with raisin bread toast. They split a chocolate chip pancake, which they insisted was amazing. I refrained—because I’m a pancake purist. Pancakes are supposed to be maple syrup delivery devices. If you must contaminate them with something, blueberries are the only respectable choice (okay, my rule, but a good one).

Don’t expect a barista experience here—no espresso machine in sight. But the house coffee is just what you want for a double-double, and there’s an off-menu iced coffee option “if someone remembers to make it,” according to Deanna. Now that’s the kind of place I can appreciate—coffee without any pretension.

I have a feeling Avanti’s is about to become a Gannon graduation weekend tradition, even if we only have one more of those weekends left on the calendar. Great service, even better food, and a warm, unpretentious atmosphere—what more could you ask for? Stop by, support a local gem, and eat well. You won’t be disappointed.

They are not that welcome, maybe too busy but food is great and really cheap, I mean like 2015 cheap.
I ordered an Italian breakfast plus Italian patty and bacon plus a plate of mushrooms and charged me only $23.2 includes tips. (16% tips for breakfast versus traditional 10%)
Will surely come again, maybe earlier next time.
Besides, quite enjoying dining with some old ladies, they make the atmosphere super neat.
Come again today and order Steak and egg. And I come early at 8:30AM. Well, you must give them 5 stars now. Their service is excellent if you come early. . Fortunately I found this place, it is even better than Perkins (Flavorful but overly oily make you sick if you dine there everyday)

We visited this location around 11:30 on a Monday morning while staying in the area. The restaurant was busy, but our table for four was seated quickly. The table wasn’t wiped off, but it wasn’t too gross.

We had several waitresses during our visit, it seemed like they tag teamed our table, but I think we were forgotten about several times in the side room. We spent two hours from the time we were seated until we received our check, which we had to ask for. Service was extremely slow. The first HOUR of our visit consisted of ordering our basic breakfast meals and then waiting. Once one of our waitresses brought out our meals, we notified her that we were missing a few items. We waited at least another 40 mins for the missing items, which we had to inquire about numerous times. The meals were good, once we received them, minus the toast being hard. Everything was prepared correctly.

Another notable remark was how COLD the establishment was. Granted, it was a cooler summer day outside, but the restaurant was absolutely frigid – and I’m typically someone that is hot.

If were ever in the area again and have several hours to waste, we might give this spot a second chance. If you’re wanting somewhere quick, go elsewhere.

I’ve been coming here for the last 3 months and I really loved the place, but today I ordered an omelette and it looked awful it was basically scrambled eggs with toppings in it. Also why were the eggs brown? I didn’t see the Italian guy there today. Just disappointed. The plate looked sloppy. I’ll be back next week hopefully the food’s better I usually come on a Saturday I’ll stick to Saturdays.

Favorite breakfast spot with amazing staff and delicious food. Be prepared for a short wait for a table because it is quite popular. The bacon quickie or pesto scramble is my go-to. The French toast is outstanding and best coffee in town!
