We’ve moved up north. our new location 2555 Ala namahana pkwy Kilauea. Husband and wife team gabe & Ali are the owner/operators of the first gastropub/whiskey bar on kauai. Avalon, a scratch kitchen making everything in house. We offer a little something for everyone. Nightly specials,fresh catch of the night and All desserts are made In House including our favorite deep fried bread pudding with butterscotch ice cream Craft cocktails craft beer unique wines and our ever growing whiskey selection. Really happy we decided to check this place out. Tons of GF options here! We had the Roasted Beet Salad, Fried Green Tomatoes, Scotch Egg & Smoked Honey wings. All of them were beautifully prepared and had amazing flavor. I wish I had room for an entree but I was already full. Would 100% run in to try this place again next time I am here!

This was low expectations meet high delivery. We waited quite a while, like 30-40min to get seated so we were famished by the time we got seated. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, we got lucky with outdoor seating. You may ask why low expectations; it seemed rather typical pub-ish fare and possibly not good. But don’t let looks fool you!! Get past everything.. because literally everything we ordered was just scrumptious. We wanted to keep ordering the burger, which is a little bundle of joy – but they ran out! The burger was super delicious, tender and tasty – last one we had we split 4 ways, basically a single bite to each of us. The wings and Mac and cheese were right behind the burger. Scotch egg was good but last in this lineup. Lot of good options but you probably noticed, lot of deep fried things. But at least they are well made. So when you feel up to some heavy eating, make a reservation so you don’t wait as long as we did. Don’t skip the tiny Shorty Burger – $25 but somehow worth it! Enjoy!

This cozy, elevated gastropub in Princevjlle is something special. It’s got a relaxed, rustic vibe (live-edge wood tables, indoor & outdoor seating, Mountain View’s if you’re lucky), but the food and drink are on another level.
The menu is full of creative, expertly prepared dishes—**bone marrow pizza** sounds wild but totally works, and the **roasted carrots** somehow stole the show. We also had **Asian-style fish tacos**, the **catch of the day**, and **Kurobuta pork**—everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor.
Desserts? We have to return to try the whole menu! The **sticky toffee pudding** is addictive and the **apple crisp** were so delicious and balanced, not too sweet, just right. Ready to lick the plates!
They also apparently have the **8th largest whiskey collection in the US** (seriously), and a cocktail menu that makes you feel like you’re in a big-city bar. Every drink was balanced and curated, without being too over-the-top.
Service was friendly, timing was spot on, and the whole place just feels like it was made by people who care about good food, drinks, and hospitality.
Definitely worth a visit—just make a reservation. You’ll want to stay a while.

My husband and I really enjoyed our meal here. We ordered the scotch egg, octopus salad, and catch of the day – each dish was fantastic. The quality of the food was great, especially for how affordable it was. Highly recommend!

No 1 on my Top 10 List…Avalon Gastropub, located on Kauai’s North Shore in Kilauea, is a true gem for anyone who loves expertly crafted cocktails and elevated pub fare. Known for its extensive whiskey collection and a cocktail program that blends pre-prohibition classics with modern creativity, this spot has become our go-to destination for drinks on the island. With dozens of cocktails to choose from, there’s truly something for every palate. The food, however, was just as impressive as the drinks—starting with the incredible *Fried Green Tomatoes*, served alongside house-smoked pork belly, avocado, pickled mustard seeds, and chipotle aioli, which set the bar high from the first bite. We followed that with the *Grilled Octopus Salad*, featuring tender Spanish octopus paired with herb-roasted potatoes, cherry tomatoes, lap xuong, grilled lemon, and chimichurri, all tied together with a citrus vinaigrette. Balanced, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared, Avalon is without question one of the best dining and drinking experiences on Kauai—and well worth the drive to the North Shore.

We’ve eaten here twice in two days. Five star first visit. Much preferred sitting at the bar. The servers were fantastic and everything was perfection from the Manhattan to the brisket poutine which had fantabulous gravy and a perfectly gooey egg. We returned the next day and enjoyed the lanai (outdoor covered patio). Waitress tonight was not the same level as we experienced the night before but she was still polite. They were popping by the time we left at 7:30pm. Cauliflower was just ok. My husband enjoyed the scotch egg but it wasn’t for me. I enjoyed the poutine the most!!

A smallish menu, but our meals where very well done. I had the smoked chicken wings for appetizer and my wife had the charred Caesar salad. Some of the best wings I’ve ever had. She enjoyed the pork chop and I had the pub steak. Both exactly as ordered and the tastes were amazing. We finished up with the Pot de Creme which was wonderful. Our server Melyssa, was personable and readily answered all our questions. Outstanding list of of top flight bourbons, as well. Highly recommend if you’re any place on Kauai.

The food is fantastic, the cocktails are delicious and beautifully crafted. The service was great – we ate a ton of appetizers – highly recommend the bone marrow pizette and the Brussels sprouts. They don’t have a kids menu but can make a simple pizza or mac and cheese bites. Their ono was scrumptious and perfectly rare. For dessert the sticky toffee pudding was phenomenal. We had a large party and everyone enjoyed our meal. Thank you!

Scotch egg was the star, amazing. Went there for dry aged ribeye, but they were out, and the only steak they had was the tomahawk at almost $200. Great sales tactic… we split the steak and had the egg as appitizer. Unfortunately just a OK. Honestly I wasn’t impressed, had better steaks at Wranglers for half the price. While nice and expensive, I didn’t have the experience of a four or five star island restaurant. The place felt cold and dreary. No view other than the parking lot. The booth felt tiny and crowded with 4 people and the hard wooden bench seat with no padding was uncomfortable as heck. Would try again and see if better.

So happy they are here in Kilauea! This restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere, beautiful bar, furniture. The food is outstanding and the wait staff is very attentive and friendly. We had a party of 6 with two children for dinner on Thursday and there were ample seating options, we sat outside under shade. Our favorite apps were the green tomatoes with pork belly, just divine! And their truffle fries had fresh generous portions of Parmesan on top. The pork chop entree was incredible, very high quality meat and cooked to perfection medium rare. We loved the cocktail menu, so many different whiskey, gin, vodka options. We didn’t get to sit at the bar but it looks like a fun spot too, and a beautiful looking bar. Really happy Avalon is here! Come for a delicious and enjoyable experience!
