The service was excellent—our waitress Danny was friendly and attentivel. The burrata was hands down the best we’ve had—creamy, fresh, and crunchy pistachios on top. We also tried the chicken parmesan and the pork chop. The pork chop had a nice crunch on the outside, though we felt it could use a bit more seasoning inside. The Albariño white wine was a perfect pairing, it is not easy to find Spanish wine around.

We enjoyed some ghost stories with our dinner. The AV was rated Pennsylvania’s most haunted restaurant by The Food Network. It was used as a temporary morgue during the 1918 influenza epidemic. I was wishing they still had a stretcher left in the basement to wheel me out of there after all the food we ate. The service and food were amazing. They really hit it out of the park with their pork chop and the salmon was fantastic.

A very delightful dinner experience. Nice variety on the menu and strikingly good bread. The steak tartar was beautifully prepared, well seasoned and an excellent opener to the broiled pork chop with brussel sprout hash entree. Looking like a three rib chop I was impressed with the uniform cook. The delicious food is accompanied by efficient and professional service making for a truly nice evening.

Their appetizers are all very good, especially their arancini, which is excellent.
We just ate there recently and I had one of the best salmon dishes I’ve eve had. I rarely do this, but it was so good that I ordered it again when we went back a few days later. Their lamb special was excellent too.
And they’re also very good about helping you with dietary concerns. Excellent food and staff!

I’ve been visiting AV since its days in Moosic, and I can confidently say the Scranton relocation is such a smashing success. The bar area is beautiful and the drinks are complex without being pretentious. The menu is small and seasonal but executed beautifully. Staff is attentive. A great spot to grab a happy hour drink, have a special dinner, or host a small event in their upstairs space.
Parking on that block of Penn Ave is a pain so definitely factor in time to accommodate.

Had dinner on a Thursday evening with another couple. No wait time, we were seated immediately. Menu items all looked delicious. Three of us had the salmon, which was fabulous. Chicken Parmesan was the fourth meal and must have also been very good because it was gone. Portions were large enough that we were glad we didn’t get appetizers, and we didn’t have room left for dessert. They did have a separate gluten-free menu with lots of options from the main menu. The prices are a little higher than the average, but the service was excellent and the food was delicious.

We came here for Valentines day and so glad we did. Loved the atmosphere. The food was outstanding. Very good craft beer selection. Check out the photos. Everyone that works here was so friendly and they took care of all your needs without hesitation. We highly recommend AV. It’s excellent!!
