Social Profile:

Local cuisine & homemade desserts like crème brûlée in a time-tested stop with a charming terrace.

Category: Bouchon. This mid 1800s restaurant named after three saints named Marie is a great spot for a traditional Bouchon experience. Bouchons range in character from rustic and gritty to polished and charming. This one falls into the latter category. Although it has existed many years, it has been updated with a neat stacked stone wall above a red leather wall-length banquette, black and white checkerboard tile floor, red velvet curtains in the front window, and frosted glass dividers displaying wine choices. If you dine at one of the outdoor tables your experience will be good but incomplete. Dine inside to get the most out of this cozy spot. The menu is traditional Bouchon. We started with (and loved) the deviled eggs with truffles and spinach. For mains we shared the onion soup (a delicious meal in itself) and the Salade Lyonnaise (generous on the lardons, with perfect poached eggs). For wine we chose 46cl of Beaujolais Villages, which paired well with our dishes. Excellent service. YouTube’s Chef’s Apprentice

As a true foodie, Lyon always calls me back — and Aux Trois Maries is one of the places I simply cannot miss. I first discovered it two years ago and loved it so much that I came twice in the same year. Now, two years later, I returned and found myself at the very same table, savoring the same charm all over again.

The food is exactly what you want in Lyon — authentic, flavorful, and made with care. From the local dishes to the wines, everything speaks of tradition and warmth. The atmosphere is cozy, the service attentive, and the terrace is perfect for people-watching in the heart of Vieux Lyon.

It’s rare for me to revisit a restaurant multiple times in the same city, but Aux Trois Maries has become that kind of place for me — a little homecoming with every bite.

After a disastrous debacle at another restaurant, my friends and I decided to try this restaurant, and I’m so glad we did. The food was outstanding and a great value. The beef was cooked to perfection, absolutely savory, juicy, and tender (my mouth is watering thinking about it as I type this). The service was friendly as well. My only complaint is that it took the servers a while to come take our order (we tried to get their attention several times to no avail) and then the food took a while to arrive (not forever, but longer than would typically be expected). But still, I’d recommend this restaurant.

This review is for the Salad Lyonnaise; I was excited to try it for the first time, and I have to say I’m glad I ordered it here. It was excellent; fresh and flavorful, with a perfect level of spice from the mustard. We were really lucky on this day to discover Aux Trois Maries.

I want to rate higher but was a bit underwhelmed. Made a lunch reservation and the staff was very welcoming. The tomato amuse bouche was delicious. I started with the pate cake and was not quite what I expected. Good but not as expected (likely my interpretation as I thought it would be a cold dish). Ordered the chicken and it was drowning in cream sauce and the potatoes very soft. With all the cream I could have made them into mashed potatoes. So much beige. Another table had the chicken and theirs just had a little sauce. Would have been better. Wrapped up with cheese which was good. This restaurant had been so highly recommended that maybe I’m rating more harshly. I also have some seafood allergies so limited my selections.

The starter was a delicious: Lyonnaise Salad. As main dishes we ordered the French dumpling and the pork sausage which based on the opinion of 2 members of my family they were good. Another main dish was received with vegetable by error, even though I asked twice to have potatoes instead of vegetables. At the end the potatoes were received and the waitress apologised which was nice of her. I did ordered risotto but did not enjoy as my dish tasted smoky. The deserts were delicious: the lyonnais cake and the profiteroles.

We wandered in on a cold night, wanting warmth, atmosphere and good food. Unfortunately, we this place failed on all accounts. We ordered entrees as we had already had a cheese platter elswhere, but were not encouraged by our waiter to order wine or more food. We left as soon as we finished our meal

I have to say that this is one of the best restaurants that serves local Lyonnaise cuisine. It is located in the old part of the city, in a very quaint and romantic alley surrounded by lovely trees and old but well preserved buildings.

The food range may be limited but it sure is great and yummy! And the wine, local wine, are just lovely and complement the meal.

Prices are very, very reasonable! In fact, most restaurants in Lyon are priced at such price level that it’s just unbelievable.

Do make sure you reserve your table else you’ll probably not have any seats at all.

The salad was ok, the sausage was quite difficult to eat, very dense, salty, the flavor was also off, the mushroom that came with was sour which did not work at all, the boiled potatoes was just edible without much flavor,
The sausage texture was like chewing into a block of over cooked dried meat.
I wait for my dessert for almost 20 min, just asked for a coffee instead.
This is the reason why I am not a big fan of French cuisine, except for bread & cheese, I can hardly find a great meal.
I did not enjoy that meal at all.
