About – Autostrada
Daily Italian life is centered around pizza, panini, coffee, gelato, family and friends. With Autostrada we want to bring the same lifestyle to Carrboro.

The pizza was great! We got one 16in and one 10in. Their pesto is indeed nut free which was a plus.

Nice pizza place; very simple and easy to order. You can choose from various styles of pizza and then add any toppings you choose. Food comes out quick and hot

Pizza was probably the best I’ve had in chapel hill and carrboro hands down. Very affordable also and a great vibe. Hope this new spot succeeds! Also the staff was very nice.

A very pleasant overall pizza place. Classic counter-order slice and pie joint. I tried a Margherita pie and it was very solid – thin crust, sort of neopolitan style where the crust is not meant to be crackling thin, but rather having a bit of a chew. Some parts of the crust were a little too thick for my liking and I wish the crust itself had some more flavor, but the overall pizza flavor was great.
The paninis were fairly good, if a little basic. I tried the eggplant one and the via Italia one (cold-cut based). The fillings were a little sparse, and I wish the bread was thinner/more pressed.

The service is very good and friendly. I think the pizza slices are priced fairly. The pizza itself is not my favorite because the crust is so dry and crunchy. It’s good overall but not my top pizza spot. I know pizza is a matter of preference, of course.

Just ordered my first pizza from Autostrada. Fantastic sauce… chewy, flavorful crust made with authentic Italian flour. This is my new go-to pizza place! So glad I tried it.
Editing this review: just paid $12 for a handful of romaine with parm. No protein. Get the antipasto salad at IPIII and you’ll get your moneys worth. This was very disappointing.

My new favorite pizza spot in Carrboro! Good prices and delicious slices. Ranch dressing was great too, that’s always a plus. And all the employees were very helpful. Will definitely be back!

We tried two variations of the normal round pizza previously and it was OK. First time was a Margherita, which was the best and service was great even though it was during soft opening. 2nd was the pesto pizza which was OK but it felt like it was lacking in actual basil flavor and service was a bit unwelcoming. The pesto was OK it was just a bit more oily than expected but still passable.
Third time we tried the La Nonna and it was just ok. The dough had not risen at all as it seemed like old dough that was past its use by date that wouldn’t rise. It was thin, hard, translucent and yet soggy at the same time. It was nothing like a true sicilian nor a grandma’s pie like we have had at many other places. The cheese was burned and dry and there was not enough sauce or toppings. Its almost like they gave us an old square pizza since it was barely luke warm in the box when we left. Very disappointing.
We have also tried salads and gelato next store both of which were OK.
We gave this place another shot even though there are so many other good pizza options, and the pizza was ok.
Hopefully continue to rethink the approach to the la Nonna pizza or simply remove it. We threw away most of it since it was really not worth eating.

Who knew you could get a New York slice in Carrboro? I walked over to the cart Mill Mall after exercise class and got a slice of Genoa (basil pesto and cheese) and was happily surprised!

The pizza was very good but even better than the pizza was the service! I felt very welcome. This casual dining experience is elevated by the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff!
