Visiting Birmingham for the first time and we’re hungry after a morning drive and was able to check this place out for Sunday brunch.

First and foremost they offer complimentary valet making it easy access to the restaurant, there is also parking on the street around the restaurant (if needed).

We arrived without reservation and got sat right away, thankfully.

We started with drink (Bloody Marys!) and ordered the beet salad and oysters, fresh and from Alabama!

We ordered the Nicoise Salad, Schnitzel and Burger for our entrees. I personally loved my salad and it was prepped in a way u have seen before. I do wish there was some more tuna but it was flavorful.

The key lime pie was a nice way to close out the meal. I’d definitely come back here again!

Automatic Seafood came highly recommended as a must stop when traveling through Birmingham. Upon arrival, was very impressed by the ambience along with interior design. The service was absolutely externally. Our waiter, Adam, was probably one of the most attentive waiters I’ve ever had & we ordered nearly the entire menu as depicted below. Everything was outstanding, some standouts were:
•Fresh Stone crab
•Fish collar (dip your yeast rolls in the juice)
•Octopus
• the grilled oysters were perfection

Entrees:
• Swordfish broiled in duck fat
• The Whole Flounder was described as the best on the menu
•NY strip was unreal, paired with crispy potatoes. Incredible
•Grouper was also outstanding

The drinks were outstanding, ended the meal with an espresso martini that was probably the best of all time. They do it right here- the chefs and line cooks have incredible attention to detail before ANYTHING leaves the kitchen. The wait staff is superb and runs like a finely oiled machine. The only time we had to flag anyone down was to ask a question about the menu or put more food in. I was asking about their dry ager as pictured below and they are going to do bacon from the tuna which is just mind boggling. The Maître d’ explained how chef Adam is all about sustainability and using every ingredient to its max extent which is extremely impressive for a seafood
Establishment, especially one so far inland.

Once you go, not if- make sure you come hungry and able to enjoy a full 3 course meal. There is something for everyone here and you will leave blown away, by service, ambience, & the wide array of culinary perfection you will experience.

A top 5 meal of all time for me. Thanks Chef Adam and Waiter Adam! Making a Monday before Thanksgiving a memorable meal

The brunch/lunch weekend menu is limited. A perfect beer and burger combo this past Saturday afternoon. It’s not seafood, I wasn’t in the mood (rare). I thought the ketchup was the best I’d ever had in my life… we asked. It’s Heinz with coriander. I’ve never been a ketchup lover, but I may end up attempting to copy it at home! Very personable staff.

First time eating here and the atmosphere was great. Made reservations and was seated right away. Our server was Anabelle and she was very knowledgeable and polite. Drinks were very good as well as the various oysters. The timing of the dishes were spot on except for one of the entrees being a few minutes behind the others. The temperature of my fish was on the colder side which shocked me but it had good flavor. I ordered the warm bread pudding and sent it back due to it being ice cold inside. I was shocked the manager never stopped by once to check on us as other similar restaurants in the area like Ocean’s do. Enjoyed the atmosphere but will probably explore other restaurants in the area.

If you haven’t been to Automatic Seafood and Oysters yet, this is your sign to knock it off your BHAM restaurant list. It is everything it is hyped up to be. I’ve now been at least twice for both dinner and brunch. Both phenomenal menus! If you go for dinner, just pray that the fish collar/cheek is on the menu. It will change your perspective on life. Pictured is what I chose for bunch (only because they were out of the Crab Cake Benedict). They usually have a choice of 6-8 different oysters you can choose from, but for brunch there wasn’t an option. DIDN’T MATTER, these oysters we like butter. Worth every penny.
