Service and food were exceptional. Waitress was attentive and continuously checked on the table. The manager visited the table asking how everything was and was very personable. Definitely recommend

It was a great opportunity to enjoy authentic Jamaican cuisine right here in Kansas. The atmosphere was lively, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming.

We ordered the oxtail, jerk chicken, and jerk fries. The oxtail was tender and richly seasoned, while the spicy jerk chicken was perfect for someone like me who enjoys heat.

As for the jerk fries, the portion size was generous, which was great—but the fries themselves felt a bit too large. I think if the fries were cut smaller, or if there were a half-portion option offered as an appetizer or side dish, it would make the dish easier to finish without waste.

We loved our dinner at Island Spice Jamaican Restaurant! The food was fantastic! I had the Jerk Pork and asked for medium spice. It was perfect! My wife had the Kingston Fried Chicken and loved every bite! TJyn was our hostess. She was courteous and took great care of us. If you haven’t been to this restaurant yet, you really should come and try it. Once you do, you’ll be hooked! It’s really good and reasonably priced.

The hospitality and warm welcome extended by the manager and staff are among the standout features of this restaurant. The food was both authentic and delicious, with the Jamaican rum punch cocktail being a particular highlight—flavorful and expertly crafted. Special mention goes to Bella, the steward, whose pleasant and engaging manner of introducing each dish added a lovely personal touch. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire dining experience, from the setting to the great conversation that flowed naturally throughout the meal.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Island Spice Jamaican Restaurant (also known as Authentic Taste of Jamaica) in Fort Leavenworth, and it was an absolute delight from start to finish! As someone who loves authentic Caribbean cuisine, this spot exceeded all my expectations and transported me straight to the islands with every bite.
We started with the escovitch fish, which was perfectly fried, crispy on the outside, and tender inside, topped with that signature tangy, spicy vinegar sauce loaded with peppers and onions – it was life-changing! For mains, the jerk chicken was incredibly flavorful, marinated to perfection with just the right amount of heat, and the portions were generous enough to share. We also tried the curried goat, which was fall-off-the-bone tender and bursting with rich, aromatic spices. Don’t skip the sides – the plantains were sweet and caramelized, and the coco bread was soft, buttery, and almost too good to be true. We washed it all down with their house-made ginger beer, which had a refreshing kick.
The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with reggae music playing softly in the background and vibrant island decor that makes you feel right at home. The owners are veteran-owned and super friendly – they even chatted with us about the dishes and made sure everything was spot on. Service was attentive and quick, even during a busy evening.
If you’re in the Leavenworth area and craving authentic Jamaican food, Island Spice is a must-visit. Huge portions, bold flavors, and warm hospitality – easily deserving of 5 stars! I’ll be back soon for the oxtails next time. Highly recommend!

Amazing atmosphere. The food was so fresh, melt in your mouth delicious. Had the jerk pork & curried goat, also got to try the jerk chicken would definitely order again and 100% recommend to anyone. It does have a mild spice to those who are sensitive to spice, but worth it anyway for the flavor. Server was so friendly and attentive. Wish we had one of these in Wichita! Will definitely be back here if in town again.

The oxtail was phenomenal, the jerk Mac and cheese with pork was amazing (ordered medium spice, probably could have gone with spicy). Definitely going back this week to try out the rest of the menu! If you want food with flavor in Leavenworth, come to this place! Atmosphere is chill, the Red Stripe beer is always good, and Bella was amazing – she gave great recommendations!

Great place to grab lunch or a dinner out with friends. Delicious food, awesome staff and the place is huge inside compared to the small street entrance. Live music at designated times. Recommend the jerk chicken, beef patty and the coco bread.

This Jamaican spot doesn’t miss. The food is bold, properly seasoned, and tastes like somebody in the back actually cares. Jerk chicken is smoky with real heat, not that watered-down tourist version. Rice and peas are fluffy and balanced. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and everything comes out hot and fresh. Service is straight to the point but welcoming, exactly what you want. If you’re looking for authentic Caribbean flavor without gimmicks, this place delivers.
