Austin’s very own Saltt is truly a gem. We were in town celebrating a family member’s birthday and came here for brunch, and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere and vibes were a 10/10 beautifully decorated, and we visited on a Sunday when they had live music, which was such a great touch. Although they were a bit short-staffed, the team did an excellent job keeping everything moving and getting the food out in a timely manner.
The food was also a 10/10. As a Port Arthur resident, I know good salt and pepper shrimp and chicken, and Saltt absolutely did this signature flavor justice. I ordered the salt and pepper shrimp and grits, and my husband had the salt and pepper chicken and waffles both were outstanding. Not a single bite was left on the plate.

I am so happy Saltt exists here now! We need more chill places like this that serve great food at decent prices. Walking in, you instantly relax with the awesome R&B, 70-80 feel good music playing. You order at the counter and find your seat and they bring the food to you. The hosts are so friendly and patient. The food is delicious and wow, so plentiful. You will not go hungry at Saltt. Hubby finished his entire shrimp & grits and he rarely finishes an entire plate of food – it must’ve been good! My grilled catfish was delicious- but the standout for me was the side of shrimp fried rice! How they put so much flavor into fried rice is amazing. I paired my meal with a pint of Electric Jellyfish which was only $7– that’s probably the cheapest I’ve ever seen it at a restaurant. This is such a jewel – if you love seafood, you must try Saltt!

Austin is better because SALTT Seafood Kitchen & Daiquiri Bar exists. This Black-owned spot is already a vibe, but Sunday brunch takes it to another level. I ordered the chicken and waffles, and it was everything I needed and didn’t know I was craving
The chicken? Perfectly fried with a different kind of batter. It felt like a light tempura-style fry, giving it that ultra-crispy, airy crunch without being heavy or greasy. Just golden, juicy, and seasoned right. The waffles were soft and fluffy, topped with this sprinkled sugary goodness that made every bite sweet, balanced, and unforgettable. Sweet and savory in full harmony. Now let’s talk about the atmosphere, because SALT feeds more than just your appetite ✨ While you’re eating, you’re treated to live R&B jazz on saxophone by Terry Thomas and baby… it’s smooth, soulful, and sets the perfect brunch mood. The music wraps around the room like warmth, turning brunch into a full experience instead of just a meal. Great food, live music, beautiful energy, and the pride of supporting a Black-owned Austin gem. SALT understood the assignment. I’ll absolutely be back, and I’m bringing folks with me.
Five stars, no hesitation.

Finally got to check out this local spot I’ve been meaning to visit for a while. Austin’s Very Own Saltt is in the strip center across from Walmart off Burnet Road @ Anderson, so easy to miss. Despite the less than ideal location (but with lots of parking), everything else was great. Had the fried fish and shrimp fried rice lunch special. Great deal at $9.99. Fish was perfectly fried with a nice cornmeal crust. Shrimp fried rice was magnificent. Includes a bonus piece of buttery toast and a fountain drink (served in glass not a throw-away cup, which I greatly appreciate). Super friendly service. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the Bob Marley mix playing during my visit.
Can’t say enough about this hidden gem. One suggestion: add a local Pilsner to the beer selection – Real Ale Hans, Meanwhile,
or 512 would do nicely.

Lunch was so delicious! $95 for 2 people with 2 hurricane drinks. 100/10! The service is excellent, food is fresh and the hurricanes are potent! Oh and the jalapeno ranch is something I need in stock at home The atmosphere is relaxed yet elevated, such great music selection. Would definitely recommend.

Austin’s very own Saltt = the definition of Sunday Funday.
I ordered the chicken and waffles (10/10… crispy, flavorful, and comforting in all the right ways). The saxophonist Terry absolutely did his thing…smooth vibes, great energy, and the perfect soundtrack for brunch.
I tried pineapple and cranberry, but cranberry definitely stole the show! refreshing with just the right kick.
If you’re looking for a Black-owned restaurant with a delicious menu, grown-folk vibes, good music, and a Sunday atmosphere that just feels right… Saltt is the place to be in Austin.

I’m obsessed with this place; it’s SO good. I usually get the salt and pepper shrimp and fries, but today I tried the catfish which was equally tasty. Some day I Will come late enough in the day to justify a cocktail. Highly recommend.
