We went there for lunch today, party of two, we ordered sashimi lunch, calamari steak and soft shell crab. When we mentioned we did not like tuna and mackerel as much, the server offered to substitute the fish in sashimi lunch.
We enjoyed our food until our server brought the check telling us there is a substitute charge for every piece of sashimi they replaced making the sashimi lunch $29.50 instead of $24.50, this last minute surprise did not feel good, we told the server that he should have mentioned the extra charge in the first place. He offered ice cream when we complained and we said No.
Also we learned that they do not put seaweed in their miso soup when we asked, just tofu and scallions.
They did not have some of the ingredients in their drink menu.

Sonoda’s Sushi is great! Their prices are excellent when compared to other sushi restaurants of similar caliber, the sushi is good, and the service was very friendly and timely. We were even given free green tea ice cream and sushi-themed calendars at the end of our meal! I also appreciated the aquariums and neat fish 🙂

We also attended with a friend who has shellfish allergies and they gladly accommodated her and she had no issues during our meal.

There’s a reason this place has been open for so long – the fish is fresh!

The chefs take special care in preparing each serving with love.
The presentation is beautiful and the flavors match well and pop.

The staff is super friendly and for the price there’s few places that could match it in the Denver area.

They have a great selection of beer and sake to wash everything down with and the ambience is nice and retro.

Come here to be satisfied with sushi!

This is a quiet yet delicious place for lunch or dinner. Not flashy, but just great food and a comfortable place to dine. We were 5 for dinner on a Saturday evening and we could hear each other. I had the grilled mackerel: perfection. And a side of shrimp and vegetable tempura. We also had the nabeyaki udon: generous bowl, and tonkatsu pork: perfectly crispy and juicy. The sushi dinner also well put together.

One of the most underrated sushi experiences in Denver. Everything is fresh and delicious. My other favs include Matsuhisa and Sushi Sasa. The quality is the same but the vibe is much more low key and doesn’t have all the frills it’s just super chill. Wear jeans no one cares. Wait staff and the guys at the sushi bar are all amazing!! The owner is always working and always smiling. Worth a trip about twice a week and it still won’t break your bank!

You honestly can’t go wrong eating here. This place has been around since the 80’s and the food is pure heaven.

We come here often from Parker to get our sushi fix. We honestly go big and make it a feast. All the dishes are freshen and decent sized. Their nigiri are a mouthful! I love all their rolls.

Try their Baked Green muscles and the yellow tail collar. We also enjoyed all their kitchen food items such has their udon and teriyaki chicken. My kids are always asking to come back.

Don’t expect to come here for the ambiance, this is a small mom and pop shop that is all about the food and service. I love how we’ve become regulars where Makoto (sushi chef and owner) will take time away to come greet us.

I love seeing how they’ve established a business and built up regular customers!

If you’re local or in the area, highly recommend check them out.

New style tuna sashimi was so rancid you couldnt pick a piece up without it falling apart . Tasted foul , wife was instantly grossed out . Couldn’t take second bite. Waitress didnt even care ! I literally showed her the sashimi couldnt even be picked up w.o falling apart the fish was so rancid. Our stomachs were instantly in Knotts and left . The nasty chefs were all pretending concerned because they knew they prepared us spoiled fish. Disgusting behavior. If I feel any sicker im calling the news

Very fresh ingredients especially the sashimi. The sea eel, freshwater eel, and sweet shrimp are the best I ever had. Rainbow and green hornet rolls are my favorite rolls. The staff was ok, but sometimes were very slow. Would recommend.

The star of the show was the sea eel roll. Based on structure and reduced quantity per roll, I’m not sure I will come again.

The spicy California roll didn’t have much spice or much effort to make sure each bite could be picked up cleanly with chopsticks.

The Yellowtail and Tuna rolls, were much smaller than expected given that all the rolls ordered were around the same price point.

Maybe next time, I will dine-in and see if things are different.
