My experience the other week when I stopped by to grab a few huckleberry shakes was a drastic contrast from what I used to experience. I guess the original store went out of business.
Walked in asked for a coffee and some huckleberry shakes. Was told the coffee would take sometime so decided to just get huckleberry shakes instead. Will point out the patrons that were in line before me had shakes in hand so thought it would be an easy in and out.
When we ordered, it became clear the Cashier/ice cream server had no idea what they were doing, also made a point to let me know that the prices shown were wrong and that the actual prices were $10 a shake, granted she didnt even seem to sure about it herself…
4 huckleberry Milkshakes is what I ordered. The cashier was fairly vocal about not knowing how to make a milkshake and was saying it loudly enough that I could hear her clearly… she asked co workers for help and got little to no help from her peers…she asked basic questions on how many scoops she needed and how much milk ect…
I think I had to repeat to her at least 4 times what we ordered because she continuously asked. Which honestly being such a basic order was surprising that she failed to remember…
Watched her struggle to make the milkshakes… she pulled out a basic ninja blender (same one I own & bought from costco) and failed to put in the blender blades…. getting the ice cream into the blender was already 10-15 minutes after ordering… At this point I was starting to get frustrated, and honestly should have just walked out, would have been justified. Place was a ghost town so its not like she had other patrons she was dealing with… was just me…Restaurant was also dead… so cant use the ” we were busy” excuse
They were not doing anything fancy… just ice cream and milk….with a countertop blender… no fruit or anything….So watched her empty the blender and then put in the blender blade… then finally we had milkshakes! However to my disappointment (and hers) she poured it out and we only got maybe 2 and a 1/4 shakes and not the 4 that I ordered.
Since we were probably pushing 30 minutes since I originally ordered, I just said you know what… 2 is fine… thankfully we hadn’t paid yet (yet another disfunction) so I wound up only paying for 2, which was a relief. She did not offer a discount or anything for royally botching the order and wasting my time, just an apology.
Milkshake was fine…didn’t knock my socks off or anything… not worth 10 bucks….They had a big dipper sticker on the cooler, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was generic. Big dipper chargers $7 for their shakes of the same size, I know this because we stopped at big dipper to get the additional 2 shakes we didnt get at Aunties.
The cashier was apologetic and did let me know that she was still learning, wasn’t her fault she wasn’t adequately trained. Not really a great look for management putting someone out on the floor alone who has no idea what they are doing. Plenty of people who I assumed worked there, were coming and going from the counter and just ignored the poor cashier.
I wont be returning here again. No idea if the food is any good or not, but I would venture to guess you would be waiting around for quite sometime before you’re served it!
