We NEVER have a bad time. The food is delicious with a great variety to choose from. The renovations after the fire look incredible and the space feels bright and open.
The atmosphere is perfect for a relaxed date night with the hubby. This is definitely a place we enjoy coming back to.

Best place for sushi. We didn’t expect that the food will be so good here. Great value for money. Service is fast but I recommend ordering bulk every time to avoid long wait times especially during busy hours.

Our go to local all you can eat sushi joint. We’ve been coming here for many years and figured I’d finally leave a review. They have multiple locations but Upper James is our favourite. The key reason we come here is consistency. No matter when we go the food is good. It’s clean and service is solid most of the time. Anytime they have ever made a mistake they correct it promptly. They are usually busy and food feels fresh. Good selection and a fair price for what you get. We have taken many friends and family members here over the years and always had a great time. We’ve even taken a few friends here on their first sushi experience. It’s a reliable place to go if you are looking for all you can eat sushi with a wide range of other food choices. We love the red tuna sushi and they offer a variety of great rolls. If you are a sushi’s fan this place might not blow your mind but it won’t disappoint you either and if you’ve ever experimented with sushi you will know food consistency is key to satisfaction. We will be coming back many more times into the future.

August 8 is consistently a solid choice for sushi and dim sum in the area. The food is always fresh and tasty, and as you can see from the photo, the variety is excellent. I find the price to be decent for an all-you-can-eat spot. Portions are generous and the service is efficient. Definitely a reliable spot when you’re craving a big sushi feast!

I visited the Upper James location on August 8 for the first time since the previous building burned down, and our server Marla made the experience outstanding. She greeted us with so much hospitality, seated us right away, and took our drink orders before we made our all-you-can-eat selections.
Marla stood out for her attentiveness—she checked in at the perfect times, made sure we received all our dishes, and ensured everything met our expectations. Her friendliness and genuine care made the whole visit so enjoyable. Thanks to her, we’ll definitely be back!

We always enjoy this place, the variety of sushi is amazing. The quality of the dishes really do shine. It is large restaurant with plenty of seating. The servers are always helpful and take the steps to make the experience and good one. Clean tables, restaurant and washrooms. Keep up the amazing work!

Service was excellent, very friendly, quick and attentive. Food was good, I would say average as far as all of the sushi places I’ve been to locally, the best thing was the eel – melt in your mouth, that one was a real standout. My one complaint was the size of the pieces – rolls and sushi were far too big to eat in a bite (rolls were sliced twice as wide as anywhere else I’ve had) and it definitely made the experience less enjoyable.

This place has sooo stepped up the game for all you can eat sushi. I’d like a few more options on the gluten free menu, but what I can have is so good. Generous portions, lots of tastes for those who aren’t wheat-free or celiac. Great staff and we had fun great-prices virgin drinks for Tuesday. Highly recommend. Delicious!!
