The ice cream here is fantastic. They have so many great options, whether you’re in the mood for a classic cone, a loaded sundae, or a thick and creamy milkshake. Everything always tastes fresh and delicious, and it’s the perfect stop on a warm day. It’s one of those places where everyone in the family can find something they’re excited to order.
What many people don’t realize is that the food is just as good as the desserts. If you’re stopping in for more than ice cream, you definitely won’t leave hungry. One item we always look forward to ordering is the chili cheese fries. They are absolutely the bomb.com! Loaded with flavor and perfectly satisfying, they’re easily one of the best items on the menu.
The atmosphere is casual and fun, making it a great place to stop with family or friends. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy good food, and treat yourself to some amazing ice cream afterward.
Overall, Auburn Dairy Freeze is a local favorite for a reason. Great ice cream, delicious sundaes, thick milkshakes, and tasty food make it a place our family loves visiting again and again. If you’re in the area and looking for a classic ice cream stand with great food too, this place is definitely worth stopping by.
These guys put out a post with five dogs all dressed differently. On Tuesdays, they are $1.25. I knew I had to go.
The five dog variations included, the classic mustard, onion and sauce, The next one was exactly that but with a stripe of mayonnaise across the top.
They had one with nacho cheese on it, one with shredded cheese on it, and the last one had about half a jalapeno sliced on top.
These dogs were made on a flat top. The sauce was that nice mix of slightly greasy without being too much.
When I put out the initial post, people really attacked mayonnaise on the dog. It really wasn’t enough of a difference to really feel like it was out of place. I use horseradish a lot on my dogs and brats, so I didn’t have any problems.
For the great argument between nacho cheese versus shredded cheese, I guess I found a winner, because I really enjoyed the nacho cheese one. It was a little more messy, but freaking fantastic!
The jalapeno dog was a little hard to eat since the rings stuck out of the top. There were six or seven slices. Wonderful for photos, but I feel like three or four would have been more fitting.
To wash it down, I selected a strawberry shake. The shake was made with real strawberries. It was an excellent compliment to the tray of dogs.
The fries they offer are called thin fries. They take an entire potato and cut it for your order. This is definitely shareable. Texture wise, they are somewhat similar to Arby’s fries.
After having all that, I was presented with a tasting cone that was half lemon half raspberry. It was so so good! I would definitely make a trip just for a full size version of it.
These guys have about 8 large tables around the building to eat at, plus the Jeep from the zoo which is always a great trigger for nostalgia.
They also have a drive-up window. It was busy the entire time I was there, but it definitely moved quickly.
The current owners have had the business for about 3 years. However, the location has been near continuously in business for about 70 years.
The owners are really nice and I feel like they are going to be around for quite a while.
They have a walk-up or drive-thru to order. We did the walk-up so we could see how the atmosphere is, and while the location is on a busy road, it didn’t take away from the overall experience.
Friendly employee was a major plus
We both ordered smoothies, the husband ordered a strawberry banana, and I ordered a mixed berry….YUM!!! There were literally chunks of the fruits, and that is my favorite thing in a smoothie because texture is key.
The wait wasn’t long, but the taste would have been worth it (this might be why we’ve always seen lines to order) because it’s THAT GOOD!
We sat at a picnic table to enjoy our beverages, and the ONLY negative thing is the ants that also wanted to enjoy our order.
(I’m huge on not harming insects, so they didn’t bother me too much, but a non-toxic distraction for them could be beneficial)
My rating is 4.75 based on our first experience (my husband doesn’t like the wilderness trying to share his food or drink), but I’m betting that after we try those 1lb french fry meals, the party in our mouths will definitely boost that up.
If you find yourselves in or around the Auburn area, I highly recommend stopping in for something!!
