Food and drinks were all fabulous. We each did the tasting menu and all the courses were filling, tasty, and well prepared. Nothing super over-the-top creative like some Michelin restaurants, but all the dishes were executed very well with strong, classical, and balanced flavors. Staff were all very friendly and accommodating. We received one of our dishes out of order (meat before pasta; we didn’t even notice until they mentioned it), and the waitress comped 2 drinks for us, which was totally unnecessary but very much awesome! It was a little noisy inside with people chatting, but obviously no fault of the restaurant plus it was a Saturday night. It’s great that this is also one of few restaurants on Resy in Omaha, so if you have an Amex card with credit then this is probably the best spot in town to use it at!
When we came in the next evening, however, it appeared that none of those notes carried over. There was no acknowledgment of the anniversary or of the reschedule. I wasn’t expecting anything additional, but a simple acknowledgment would have set the tone for what was meant to be a special occasion.
The food itself was very strong. Several courses were thoughtful, balanced, and well executed, and the lengua was a standout.
Unfortunately, the experience became inconsistent toward the end of the meal. Dessert was presented as what appeared to be a single scoop of chocolate ice cream in a waffle cone with sprinkles, served plainly on a plate. For a tasting menu at this price point, it felt disconnected from the level of execution shown in the earlier courses.
We also experienced cream curdling immediately upon being added to coffee (which was replaced), and we never received mignardises, despite seeing them served to other tables.
Individually these may seem minor, but together they created an uneven ending to what had otherwise been a very good meal.
I still left a full 20% tip, as the staff were working hard and there was a lot to appreciate. I am sharing this feedback because I know how important consistency and communication are to restaurants operating at this level, and I hope it is helpful.
All their food is locally sourced and fresh. While they have an A la carte menu, highly recommend the tasting menu.
$80 for about 6 courses was much worth it. Each dish was amazing and well portioned to leave you satisfied/full by the end.
The chef changes it each week!
Each course was a culinary masterpiece, beautifully presented and bursting with flavors. The chef’s creativity and attention to detail were evident in every bite. The wine pairing was spot on, enhancing the flavors of each dish and elevating the overall dining experience.
The staff’s knowledge and passion for food and wine were evident throughout the evening, making the experience even more enjoyable. The ambiance was elegant yet comfortable, adding to the overall charm of the restaurant.
If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience in Benson, I highly recommend the chef’s tasting menu with the wine pairing at Au Courant Regional Kitchen. It’s a gastronomic journey that will leave you delighted and satisfied.
