Attic Secrets is Marysville’s best-kept secret. In our quest to find an affordable high tea experience under $100 per person, we decided to venture outside of Seattle, and I’m so glad we did. Heading north, we found ourselves at this charming tea house, where even Santa and Mrs. Claus made an appearance. They were incredibly kind to the children, taking the time to walk around the tea house and chat with guests, adding a special touch to the experience.
From the moment you step inside, the place feels incredibly inviting. I could write a novel about how adorable it is. Each tea room has its own theme—ours was Alice in Wonderland, which was perfect for our 4-year-old companion. Kids are warmly welcomed, and they even have special kid-friendly plates.
The food was average, but the tea was the star of the show. We tried several varieties, sharing among our group, which is definitely the way to go if you want to sample a bit of everything. I left with a bag full of tea, and each one is absolutely delicious!

Not only was this a peaceful, tasty lunch, but the decor was amazing. We came here for my daughter’s sweet 16 and were wowed. We each got the Grand Lady afternoon tea combo. The Grand Lady comes with 6 different sandwiches, and every one was tasty. The strawberry mango sorbet was mouthwatering and the little savory was perfectly light, moist and yum. My kiddo got the Royal Wedding tea, and I had the Cherry Pie tea. Both were delicious. I was worried that at $33/person, we wouldn’t get enough to actually satisfy and was pleasantly surprised. I got filled up and my kiddo was unable to finish her portion. Already making plans to come again for another celebration. Can’t afford to do this often but as a celebratory outing this is perfect!

Love this place for a dainty little afternoon tea date. Plentiful selection of teas, tasty treats, and diversely decorated rooms. We made a reservation but it was hardly necessary, although we did go on a weekday. Take your gal pals or hubby and head to Attic Secrets Cafe!

I am updating my review because it’s been close to 6 years since I was last here. I brought my 10 year old, and we loved it! The only criticism I have is for the mother daughter team to find a more private place to have their arguments. The kitchen amplified their voices and everyone could hear them. I didn’t appreciate hearing the mother cussing at the daughter, or from the gentleman in the kitchen. Over all it was nice. My daughter and I had a great time there.

My wife and I came in for our five year wedding anniversary and have been coming to this place the entirety of our relationship which is six years. This was our first time back since ownership changed, we were not impressed. We were seated and ignored for 30 minutes before our order was taken. Tea took another 15. While it seemed to just be two of them, we could see other customers getting faster and honestly, friendlier service. Upon arrival of our food my wife’s had a couple of mistakes. We asked the husband to correct them like missing two sandwich ingredients it’s listed on the menu to come with and a wrong scone topping. He did albeit, he had an attitude and Ignored us the rest of our visit. My own sandwich only had a single strip of bacon throughout which was also disappointing but I did not want to ask given the attitude we’d seen prior to asking. We were checked on maybe four times in two hours and even timed another table their order was taken in 7 minutes and had their tea in another 3. The husband took their order and was much friendlier to them. This seemed to be a pattern our entire visit. We had to carry my wife’s scone on its plate to the front to get a box. It was hard not to feel unwelcome in one of our favorite spots especially on such a special day and it is unlikely that we will be back.

We had a wonderful time! We came for a family brunch birthday celebration for my wife. When we arrived, we were greeted and directed to a shelf with different tea cups to choose from. It was a lovely surprise to be able to enjoy our tea from a tea cup set of our choosing! There were so many teas to choose from and organized from caffeinated to caffeine free! We chose our tea, sandwich, and desert order. Each person had their own small pot of tea to enjoy. Our meals were brought out on cute multi-tiered plates. The experience and service were top notch and even our twin 15 year olds were impressed. Can’t wait to visit again!

Tried to bring my youngest an hour and a half before they closed and before I could even open the door was yelled at that they were done serving people with tables open and their open light on. It was honestly kind of shocking to just be yelled at from across the room. It was just three of us. I used to feel like it was worth the 45 minute drive to get here but it seems like now a days there’s always something. Unfortunately now having a very disappointed three year old I don’t think I’ll be trying again.

Worth every cent! The chicken pecan salad sandwich is my favorite! But the turkey pesto sandwich was an unexpected pleasure to taste, I would never have thought of putting pesto on a sandwich but this was truly delish! The chicken caesar salad was perfectly balanced with the dressing to lettuce to cheese to crouton to chicken ratio and worth going for just that alone. The scones, now let me tell you about these scones: dense but warm and the perfect amount of crumbly dougheyness with a citrus glaze on top and add some strawberry jam, girrrrrrl let me tell you what, amazing, absolutely phenomenal. I have never enjoyed scones so I walked in super skeptical and oh man I am a HUGE FAN! I love the presentation of the tiered scrumptious morsels, made me feel uber fancy and the shop was so clean and organized and appeared high class (though my norm is usually sweats and a tshirt) enough for me to decide to dress up for my youngest daughter’s 7th birthday with her grandmother and sister. The place made my OCD happy with it’s cleanly organization and it was satisfying walking in to see all the teacups and teapots. Make a reservation because you will not regret it. No hovering servers or rush to be assembly lined. Plan to be allowed to take your quality time and enjoy each other. Plus my kiddo accidentally spilled her tea, staff asked her if she was okay and acted like it was no biggie, got us some extra napkins, wet cloth to wipe up the sticky sugary tea, and quickly Swiffer’d up the floor and wiped down her seat. Best tea house around. I really like that the reciept states exactly what was ordered so that I can keep track of all the teas I have/haven’t tried. Also, FAIR WARNING, LEARNING EXPERIENCE: letting a 7 year old have caffinated black tea was not in my best interest and I urge you moms out there to prepare for some non-stop motor mouth white noise on the way home that may pause a time or two for you to say, “uh huh,” so they know you are listening. Just mentally prepare yourselves for that, or avoid it. I unfortunately didn’t think to convince her of another of the 100’s of choices thinking, “it’s her birthday, let’s spoil her some,” yeaaah, I’m not making that mistake twice, I still have no idea what she said on the way home that day because she was like Windows 10 to my Windows 95 with dial up internet and floppy drive.

This is our favorite British style afternoon tea/high tea destination in the whole greater Seattle area. Fine food, service and an impressive menu. The decor and multiple rooms will please you as well as your date. Reservations are a good idea during busy afternoons and most holidays/special days. Closed during Covid pandemic Attic Secrets reopened for service May 5 2021 even better than before. Soup of the day is posted at entry – never had a bad soup but especially loved the pea soup, tomato bisque, potato soup and recently the WONDERFUL chili. Recently heard they will be offering clam chowder and looking forward to trying that.
