Fabulous experience! Came to Knoxville for a quick overnight. Arrived in town around 8:30pm, being from StL it was a little surprising to see most of the business closed or closing soon. We happened upon A&P. While we arrived too late for the kitchen, we did enjoy perfectly crafted cocktails and martinis. What truly put the experience over the edge was the staff…wonderfully inviting.

Spent the evening here with family. The cranberry mule, raspberry mule, and old fashioned were wonderful. Good selection of local and mass-market beers. There was live music the evening I was there, but not enough volume to be uncomfortable. I’m looking forward to going back on my next visit to Iowa.

The building is gorgeous, and the Bloody Marys were good (although updated photos could be helpful), the staffing couldn’t have been worse. What is historically known as the busiest 10 days of the year for the town of Knoxville, seemed to be missed by A&P pub. There were 3 people working, and 40+(?) people in the building. It was chaotic as you were never checked on, never got drinks you ordered, and felt like they actually didn’t want to help you.
Would love to go back during not this time as the drinks were yummy and I’m sure the service could redeem themselves!

They weren’t offering sandwiches when we stopped by so that was a bummer. Service was fantastic and the atmosphere was cool. Our tab was 54$ for two martinis, i was in a hurry or I would have questioned the seemingly high prices.

The woman running the bar were so nice and friendly. The atmosphere was wonderful and the way the pub is decorated is beautiful. The drinks are all delicious. Will be coming back often and definitely recommend this to everyone who wants a nice sweet martini

The vibe there is fantastic, its like nothing you’d expect in midwestern America Knoxville Iowa and more like somewhere you’d drink in Manhattan NY. The bar keeps are fun, outgoing, friendly, gorgeous and attentive. You can’t not have a good time. It can be the place for a quiet sip by yourself or with a loved one or it can spill out into a raucous time with a bunch of new friends. There is a huge variety of cocktails available, themed nights like Taco Tuesdays and live music with some fantastic local talent. It’s a supercool place with supercool down to earth, fun-loving people. Owned by two tremendous people who are Knoxville proud and located perfectly right next to Candi’s Flowers so you can buy the little lady something special when you’re on the way home late “The A&P” is my favourite bar on earth. I just wish I didn’t have to travel 15,000kms to get there!

This place has it all – great mid mod décor, awesome drink menu and knowledgeable bartenders. Loved the Whiskey Smash which packed a punch but was perfect for sipping. What a cool find tucked away in a small town – worth the drive from Des Moines or any where else in the vicinity.
