Athena Restaurant was an average experience overall. The food was just okay—nothing particularly memorable or exciting. The ambience felt like a typical strip mall setting, lacking any standout charm or atmosphere. However, the service was good; the staff was attentive and friendly. While it wasn’t a bad experience, it’s not a place I’d go out of my way to visit again. A one-and-done spot for me.

I took my sister to lunch here, as I have always loved this place and the owners…maybe there are new owners? I have gone since they were Pegasus and Dina’s…it has been a while because I moved. We arrived just after noon to an empty restaurant. We sat down and waited. No one ever came, so my sister got up and hollered into the back and a man who looked like a cook came out. No apologies, just gave us a menu and went in back again. We sat and waited and no one came. She hollered again and the same man came out and took our order. Suddenly an employee came rushing in the door. She verified that we ordered and said she would get our drinks. About 5 mins later our food came out-we each had a gyro with fries. Still no drinks. No ketchup on the table. She finally brought our iced tea which tasted old and not like regular tea. Then finally brought the ketchup. The gyro meat was soft and seemed under cooked and the fries were very undercooked. We had asked for extra tzatziki sauce on our gyros but they were dry…the server did bring us each a small side and said they usually charge for extra sauce but she would let it slide today…really?? I have never been charged extra for sauce on a sandwich or with an entree!! And, no apologies for the lack of service, nor were we asked if we enjoyed our food. My sister did not like her meal and she LOVES gyros. This was supposed to be a special outing with her while I am in town. I am embarrassed that I took her here and I will hesitate to return. Perhaps you have a comment to return to me, a loyal customer of MANY years who is very disappointed!!

Food: I dream about their Gyro Pita Sandwich ! The meat is so tender and flavorful, the tzatziki sauce is so creamy!! Not to mention the pita is perfection! The Baked Eggplant was like eating lasagna, meaty and seasoned well. The Greek Salad is refreshing and paired with a great dressing. Even their French fries are great. And lastly the Baklava had just the right amount of sweetness!
Service: The gentleman is always friendly and funny, hardly ever standing still. It seems to only be him, so a little understanding when the place is full goes a long way.
Atmosphere: I love the plants they have, gives it a cozy vibe. They had a full house last time and it wasn’t too loud. The music is on theme and nice.
Price: The pricing is great, especially for the quality of food!

I wanted to do a good review because it IS a local family place. The service was beyond terrible. After waiting over 15 minutes for our server to take our order I had to go and find him in the kitchen with the cook. The cup of soup came with the meal, not before. The portion sizes were nicely large, the gyro meat was a bit oily and oddly soft….. Our table was so wobbly I got cardboard from my vehicle to fix it. Long after we were finished with lunch, my husband tired of waiting for a check went to the kitchen for our server. There was one other couple at one other table.

Excellent lunch today at Athens family restaurant. Our server was Cemil and he exceeded all expectations: friendly, charming, made great recommendations – perfect! And the food was excellent as well! We started with the housemade hummus platter with warm pita bread, a lamb gyro sandwich and a lamb skewer (Adana) served with a fresh well-seasoned salad and pita bread. Very ample portions: we both had leftovers! Thanks again Cemil! We will be back!

The food here is so good! Delicious and fresh. Eggplant dip is not for everyone- it has a fizziness that took me some getting used to. Pita was warm and paired really well with everything else. I would come again!

The service and food at this Greek restaurant were truly exceptional. The dishes were prepared fresh, which meant a slight waiting time, but it was well worth it. I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion sizes, especially considering the reasonable prices. While the decor was a bit on the darker side, they also offered outdoor seating which provided a lovely alternative.
