Atheneos Greek Restaurant is absolutely fantastic. The food was fresh and full of flavor—I had the chicken skewers and a Greek salad, and both were excellent. I also had the chance to speak with the owner, who was very pleasant and truly cares about the experience customers have. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great Greek food and great service.

Best lamb I have ever had! We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon because it was in the area. So happy we did. The lamb chops were so tender they melt in your mouth. Homemade spicy feta dip with soft pita wedges and a Athena salad was perfect. Sweet girl had the lamb gyro sandwich with tomatoes and onions and the famous tzatziki sauce. Met the owner EMMANUEL (oh so Greek so handsome 😉 and enjoyed his time. This is a must for your new favorite.

Earlier today, my friend and I were looking for a quick bite in Mesquite. We were craving Greek food, as it’s one of our favorites. When we arrived, the waiter wasn’t necessarily friendly, but he wasn’t rude either.

The main issues began once I received my food. The pita bread was extremely dry and tasted like pizza crust from Little Caesar’s. My main dish was worse — the rice was soggy and mushy, and the vegetables tasted frozen rather than fresh. I can tell the difference, as I grew up eating that brand.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the worst part. When I cut into my fish, it was raw — and I had already taken a few bites. I immediately brought this to the hostess’s attention. She was a small, middle-aged woman who completely disregarded my concerns about both the raw fish and the vegetables and instead began arguing with me. She then asked who I believe was the owner to verify my complaint.

To my surprise, the owner was extremely kind and helpful. He confirmed that the fish was indeed raw, apologized, and offered dessert while assuring me he would address the issue in the kitchen. Although I appreciated his effort, I had already lost my appetite and politely declined.

Despite this, the hostess attempted to make my friend pay for his meal even though he did not eat it due to the poor quality. As we were leaving, she continued questioning me and even asked if I had ever had Greek food before — which was incredibly rude and dismissive, especially given what had occurred.

I made it clear that I was not trying to bash the restaurant. Constructive feedback should help improve a business, not be taken personally. Good service starts with accountability and respect.

I wasn’t planning on writing a review, but my family encouraged me to do so to help others avoid getting sick. My stomach is now hurting, and I’m extremely disappointed. I’ve also noticed that whoever manages the online reviews tends to argue with customers rather than address their concerns, which is completely unprofessional.

I will be including photos as well. That concludes my review.

An incredible dining experience will be had by all who visit this excellent Greek cafe. My wife and I were visiting from out of town and met up with our friends here for lunch, who said they go here often. For an appetizer, we got kolokithokeftedes (zucchini fritters), and then split the absolutely delightful, bright chicken lemonato plate with rice, veggies, and pita. Best of all, the affable owner of this establishment greeted us after our meal to ensure we enjoyed it, and spent time getting to know us and catching up with our friends. We will be back and encourage you to give Atheneos a try for authentic Greek food and hospitality.

Co owner Manny is a true treasure.
He really cares about every guest having a wonderful time. We were so immersed in the experience and enjoyed everything so much that we forgot to take pictures.
My husbands Lamb Gyro was overflowing with tender lamb, just the right amount of tomatoes, red onion and refreshing Tziki. The Greek fries were deliciously seasoned and just crispy on the outside. Perfect!
My Lamb Souvlaki was incredibly tender and mouthwatering. Hot fresh pita bread pared with cool tziki was sooooo good.
Dessert was an experience!
Fresh baked Greek custard I couldn’t begin to pronounce. The thinnest Phyllo layers filled with the freshest most divine custard topped with phyllo and dusted with powdered sugar perfection beyond belief. Resting on sweet syrup nectar.
Unbelievable meal!
Truly.
This gem never disappoints!
Grab your friends, family and neighbors!
Go visit Manny and everyone at the one and only Atheneos Greek restaurant in Mesquite!

The food was extremely delicious. My lamb shark was seasoned perfectly, and the little soup that came with it really warmed me up perfectly! The rice would have been better if it was just a tad bit drier but I still ate all of it. The owner greeted everyone eating and was a genuine and kind person. The waitstaff was prompt and wonderful.

I went to a family restaurant where I had previously enjoyed good experiences, but this time was different. The atmosphere was disrupted when the staff sprayed the table next to us with Fabulosa and then mopped the floor behind us with a similar product. The overpowering scent completely overpowered my senses, overshadowing the delicious meal I was trying to enjoy. While the food itself was good, the poor service and the overwhelming smell of cleaning products diminished what could have been an excellent dining experience. It’s frustrating to have such mixed feelings—great food, but service that detracts from it significantly.

The owners were nice. Awesome to know they lived in Wisconsin at some time! Food was good. We stopped in just for a light lunch, had gyro plate and a salad. Fast service. Ate too quick to snap a photo.

Pleasant attitude in the Greek themed resturant. We came in for lunch and we’re surprised. Met the owner. he is a big guy with a warm personality.

The gyro meat was very good, still the pita was the star. Thick fluffy and soft. Served warm it was great. The fries were crispy. Perfectly cooked and not greedy.
If you want the gyro sandwich and are there during lunch, get the lunch special, keep the salad and order the whole pita (uncut).

Drinks aren’t self serve even though it looks like it.
