I love this place the Greek food is amazing. This is one of my sisters go to when we come to visit. The atmosphere is great and the staff is so nice. We always do the hummus board with 3 samples and mix them up each time they are all wonderful. We got the Greek fries and they are delicious piled high with feta. I got vegetarian pasta and it was also great. Baklava is an absolute must! Portions are large so be prepared to take some with you.

One of those old school restaurants is Athena Greek Restaurant. This is, of course, not to be confused with The Athenian Room in Lincoln Park (also on Halstead).

Mmm might be my personal preference but the food was not too my liking. The fish was not fresh and was mushy. The pastitsio was pretty decent. Plenty of meat and macaroni, sauce was the same sauce as on the rice. So when eating those together it kinda made it taste a little boring. Pork chop was fine though I don’t really have an issue with that.

Fantastic and underrated Patio. Super large and cool even on a warm day. The wine, especially the bottles are reasonably priced. The food is really good and also reasonably priced. I had lamb in phyllo dough and it was golden and the lamb wasn’t dry. All the lamb dishes were med rare and the octopus app was stunning.

We loved Athena the atmosphere was wonderful and the staff there were so kind. We’ve been to Greece and got engaged there so it was special for my fiancé to go and enjoy a Greek dinner! We started with their appetizers and we got the bread & pita with 3 spreads, the saganaki (highly recommend), and calamari. The mains we got the gyros plate and the Yiovetsi. For dessert we got the Ek Mek. Everything was definitely 10/10!! Make sure you go hungry because we couldn’t stop eating!

Retractable roof and patio in the summer with tasty food year round. Athenian chicken is my favorite entree and there’s plenty for sharing or leftovers. Good for small and large groups with reservations available. Conveniently located in Greektown, less than a 10 minute walk from Union Station downtown.
