Over the past few years, Athena has been one of my family’s go-to spots for Greek food. Unfortunately, the quality and value have noticeably declined. Over the last 3–4 visits in the past few months, the portion sizes have become significantly smaller. The combination plates, which used to be generous and filling, are now packed with excess lettuce while the meat portions have been cut back dramatically. The gyro sandwiches have also changed from hearty, well-stuffed wraps to tiny sandwiches with barely any meat inside.
It’s disappointing to see a place that once offered great value and quality become so cheap with its portions. My family and I have always enjoyed supporting Athena, but at this point we’ll be switching to Taziki’s across the street. Their prices are more reasonable, the servings are larger, and the service is consistently quicker. Sadly, Athena has lost what made it great.

Every food item we ordered was SOOOOOO DELICIOUS AND AMAZING that we ordered extra meals to take back to our hotel to have for lunch the next day!
Also, this was our first time ever having Lebanese Iced Tea (with rose water) and if you don’t go here and get some YOU ARE MISSING OUT!!! Where has this been all my life???? It’s so, soooooo delicious!
Gyro pasta is amazing–next time I will ask for extra sauce because the pasta absorbs all of it when you save some for later. Their baba ganoush (sp?) is deliciously smokey and their pillowy-light pita bread is made fresh. The house salad dressing is amazing– tastes like it might have a splash of rose water in that also-you’ll love it!
This is a wonderful “mom-and-pop” restaurant that maybe could use a little makeover, but who needs fancy with food this amazing???
I saw where some reviewers complained about waiting too long for food. We didn’t feel we had to wait too long, but we also went around 3:30-4pm on a Friday, so not exactly dinner rush. We also don’t expect REAL FOOD to come out within a few minutes (this is real food, not fast-food!!). They make the food fresh to order, and it’s SUPER FRESH! That being said, our food was at the table just as we finished the last bites of our salads-perfect timing!
I can’t remember our waitress’ name, but she was wonderful and very in-tune with kids, which all parents really appreciate! ❤️

We took my mother here for her birthday. This place is hands down the best in Shreveport/Bossier. Flakey Spinach pies. Savory fried cheese. Fresh creamy hummus with hot pita bread The best Falafel I have ever eaten. The Baklava was dripping with honey. So good!

Excellent service by a wonderful lady named Honor!!!! Absolutely Delicious food!!! The manager/owner was wonderful & helpful. The hostess was very accommodating, we had a large group without reservations, but she was able to seat us. Half of our group wasn’t familiar with Mediterranean food, but they were all very pleased. We were there celebrating a birthday and the staff went out of their way to make sure the evening was special. We are so grateful that we found this restaurant & will definitely return in the future. Thank you to everyone that made our evening so wonderful!!

We ordered the Athena sampler for appetizer. It was delicious. Falafel and kibby were seasoned very well!! Hummus and other dips were great. We had the salads before our meal and the dressing was excellent. For main course, we ordered the gyro/chicken shwarma combination and the steak kabob.
The chicken shwarma is on the dry side and needs some more flavor.
The gyro was excellent with lots of flavor.
Steak kabobs were cooked to a perfect medium and seasoned well. The rice was nice and moist. Overall a great meal and we will be back.

If you enjoy fresh, authentic food then this is the place to go. i had the grilled vegetable plate and it was delicious. My salad was fantastic. The atmosphere was quiet and allowed me to focus on the quality of the food. Make sure you enjoy this gem of a spot

We went Greek tonight!! We had a wonderful experience at Athenas. Service was on point. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Drink glasses were never empty. The food was amazing!! We had the Athenas Special Plate for Two, and man was there alot. Definitely enough food for two people!! The salad was so fresh and delicious. The appetizer plate was wonderful. The main entrée plate was out of this world!! If you have never stopped in, give them a try!! We will definitely be planning a return trip!!

Came saturday night and stayed until they closed and I just had to leave a review. Our server was absolutely amazing. She was ontop of everything as well as so kind. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very homely. The food was fresh and amazing. This was my first time coming and wont be my last.
