I went in and was greeted by the staff which were absolute amazing. The service is impecable and I can’t complain but it’s the food that just didn’t meet my expectations.
I order a dozen of the macarons, a bar-rocher noisette and a coffee. The Bar-Rocher was spectacular and so delicious. It was fresh, creamy and with a bunch of hazelnuts. It’s this that actually has me leaving 2 stars instead of one.
As for the macarons, which is what drove me there, they were a major flop. They were frankly an abomination. Some were broken, an indication of a bad or old macaron. Mostly the pistachio ones were like that. Others completely flavorless like the raspberry one. The employee said the guava macarons were freshly baked but honestly they were as terrible, it tasted like fridge and the inside was incredibly chewy. As a matter of fact they were all chewy on the inside and super flaky on the outside. It’s odd I’ve never had macarons like that before. I don’t believe for a second they make that in-house it would make more sense if they bought them in bulk from somewhere else. The coffee was also not the best, the beans were burned so after a few sips it went down the drain.
I was very sad by the experience because this place has great reviews and it was not cheap. Maybe it was my selection that just didn’t work out, who knows. Regardless, macarons are traditionally luxury desserts with a hefty price point, so I expected something else. If one can’t commit to the quality of their products then they shouldn’t be selling them.
Service was nice and it was so fun to watch pastries being made. Give this place a try for sure
The staff is very warm and courteous.
Don’t expect a formal pastisserie. This is where they make most of the goods for the rest of the stores. Nevertheless you can sit down and enjoy one of their treats. Takes me back to Paris!
Croissants which were yummy, apricot pastry & blueberry pastry, but my absolute favorite was the almond croissant.. OMG.. YUMGASM!! Yes, it’s so good I had to make up a word to describe it. I can’t wait to take a trip back to Miami again. The owner of the shop is so sweet and friendly. She’s the kind of person who makes you want to sit down and have a cup of coffee with. My experience was more like going to a friend’s house than a new bakery. I highly recommend this bakery to anyone who is looking for some yummy French baked goods. Next time I’ll bring home some of the other pastries or a cake. There was just too much to choose. Sorry there are no photos because my family inhaled them quickly.
Ordered the almond croissant and was extremely pleased.
