The service by Cade was beyond anything I’ve experienced – his brilliant demeanour and knowledge of all the dishes and drinks were top notch.
The food we had were the following; freshly made bread + whipped butter, the decadent prawns , chicken pot pie and 3-course tasting menu (pork belly, stunning scallops and he best chocolate torte I have ever tasted.
I can’t say enough about this food and service.
Our only hiccup was the cold draft coming in – but the food and service was so good, that we can overlook.
We can’t wait to come back!!
Thank you for an amazing experience!!
L’Atelier is a little treasure tucked away in the heart of Sidney. Sophisticated and intimate, it’s the perfect spot for a special occasion. The menu is refined and thoughtfully crafted—a true delight for the connoisseur. A beautiful experience where every detail feels intentional. Highly recommend!
Appetizers:
The tartare arrived looking like it was rationed during wartime. Tiny portion, zero excitement. Nothing to write a poem about—unless it’s a haiku about disappointment.
The crab rolls had a bold name and questionable execution. Was there crab in there? Hard to tell. Mostly felt like two pieces of bread having an identity crisis.
Mains (after a casual 1.5-hour wait):
• Lamb: Tasted… suspicious. “Not fresh” is the polite version.
• Cod: Technically edible. Entirely forgettable.
• Salmon: Honestly impressive in the worst way. How do you mess up salmon? It takes effort, and they committed.
Signature cocktails:
Equally underwhelming. If these are the “signature” drinks, that’s not a signature I’d want to keep.
Not worth the time or the price. Would not return.
The beef and lamb were passable but my salmon and my sister’s scallops were anything but. The presentation of my salmon was atrocious. The salmon was mushy inside a crusted shell and it was accompanied by a thick insipid pink sauce adorned with a few interspersed beet slices. My sister’s scallops were tiny and tasteless.
In short, it was a very disappointing and expensive restaurant experience. We all enjoyed the Van Morrison concert, thank goodness.
I had the halibut and the brie appetizer, and a very nice rose.
