I’ve been coming here forever. Because I had to. Originally frequented the Richmond Mall location until they closed. This location is not consistent and for the money, $17 for orange chicken (dry and soggy like it’s been sitting under the lamp too long), vegetables (bleh) and fried rice (often super oily) and a small drink, it’s not worth it. It’s a gamble to come here. Maybe the food is banging but most likely it’s not and I’M NEVER BUYING FOOD AT THIS LOCATION EVER AGAIN. I don’t even write reviews but after my most recent foray I was left with no choice. I’ll only be able to enjoy Asian Chao when I’m at Mentor Mall now.

Went here today 1/14 and grabbed some bourbon chicken. The two entree plate is 13.69. As I’m walking away, I noticed on my phone that they charged me 16.90. I turned around to ask what the extra charge was for. This lady said “It’s tax”, we don’t have tax on food in Ohio. Then this guy came over and said I added a tip. Why would I add a tip to fast food in the mall? She had punched the tip into the credit card pad before I tapped my phone. Very shady business. I will not be returning here.

The food is tasty enough for what it is, but the prices are out of control. You don’t expect to pay a premium for mall Chinese food. While I enjoyed the meal, the receipt left a bad taste in my mouth. It is just too expensive for the setting and portion size.

The food is to dry, not seasoned enough. When asking for salt or pepper they dont have it, tell you to go other food stand and get from them. Completely unprofessional. Compare to 3 years ago it is horrible. Done eating here.

I absolutely love this place! The bourbon chicken and orange chicken are delicious! So are the vegetables and noodles. I ask for extra bourbon sauce on the noodles and that just makes them super yummy! I drive a long way just to go here for lunch or dinner. Also I love variety, so the price is great considering I can get four items for way less than 4 items would cost at a take out place. Staff are very nice as well. It may be mall Chinese Food, but it is by far one of my favorite things to eat!

I grew up going to the Asian Chao at Richmond Mall. The owner served the food and he always filled the containers for me and the other poor, hungover lifeguards while on our break from Lyndhurst Pool. The meals were $3-5 back then (2006-2013) and they were beyond delicious. As Richmond Mall’s visitation rapidly crumbled, the guy hung on longer that anyone could have imagined. He used to go to the bank my mom worked at and everyone there loved him – a true staple of the community. When he retired and moved away, so went the Asian Chao. I’ll occasionally go to the Chao at Beachwood Mall, but year after year the portions got smaller, the food got more expensive, and less delicious. Today, I felt the hunger for Chao and that beautiful flavor of friends, family and the inevitable coma-like nap I would get to take afterword. They hurt me today. $11 for a laughable portion of garbage. Orange chicken, burnt. Bourbon chicken, dry. Noodles, flavorless. I won’t let the Beachwood Mall Asian Chao take those memories from me. Won’t eat here again (jk probably will next year and will hate myself for it). I suggest you avoid it at all costs. Don’t let their swill tarnish the good Asian Chao name. They should be ashamed, but I’m sure they won’t be. RIP the Chao of the old days… (photo of the moment I opened my meal today, dropped my fork, and held back tears)

Tried to get lunch during my break. Ordered noodles and bourbon chicken and was charged for the two entree combo platter. Was told it was the only option even though I didn’t order it. Told them forget it and went to the place right next to them and got noodles and teriyaki chicken. Watched them make it in front of me and was charged only $12.99 with an egg roll instead of almost $20. Now I realize why Chik Fil A is always busy. At least there you know what you’re paying for. If you want Asian go to Nori Japan at Beachwood Place. The food is fresher and the prices are what they say.
