From start to finish, my experience was incredible. Thomas is truly a gem! I came in not knowing what to order, and he took the time to walk me through the menu and describe everything so well. His recommendations were spot on. This place is definitely a hidden gem, and I’ll absolutely be back!

This is the first time I have visited this restaurant and I got take out. I don’t like sauce so I got their chicken and Asian mixed vegetables with no sauce and their garden rolls. The portions are fantastic and these garden rolls will become a frequent craving for sure.

If you’re looking for a really good Chinese or Sushi, this is one of the best in Baltimore. After six years finally open again for dine-in. Fresh ingredients, carefully prepared, spotless clean restaurant and very friendly staff. Absolutely awesome. We ate five different sushi and four cooked dishes. Everything was phenomenal, it’s a wonderful family owned business.

First, let me be very clear: this is no longer American Asian. The restaurant is now Asian Burmese Kitchen, under new ownership and unfortunately, the food and service are not the same.
I ordered Christmas dinner expecting the American Asian we’ve loved for years. I spent $157.62, which wasn’t an issue because locals know how good this place used to be. I placed my large order in advance on Christmas Eve with a 4:00 PM pickup time.
I arrived at 4:00 and my order wasn’t ready. Not a huge deal I waited 30 minutes. But honestly, what’s the point of ordering ahead if the food isn’t ready at the scheduled time?
When we finally got home, the problems really started.
The California rolls had mayo, despite being told no mayo when ordering.
When I called to fix their mistake, instead of replacing the sushi, I was charged an additional $14 to get the correct sushi and a pork egg roll that should’ve already been in my order.
The shrimp fried rice was completely different dry and disgusting.
The General Tso’s chicken had way more heat than before (my husband didn’t mind, but it’s not the same recipe).
The egg rolls were awful like eating sandpaper stuffed with vegetables.
The Philly rolls had also changed and didn’t taste anything like they used to.
Overall, this was the worst food experience I’ve had here, and I’ve been a loyal customer for five years. Since the ownership change, the quality has clearly declined. A new name and new owners mean you need to build your own reputation, not ride on the reputation of American Asian.
Asian Burmese Kitchen is definitely not the spot.
Rest in peace, American Asian you will be deeply missed by everyone in the neighborhood.

I had the wonton soup a Philly roll and a spicy crab roll. The food was amazing the sushi was fresh and well prepared. The wonton soup is a great for an upset stomach. And the guy At the front desk Thomas is a really great guy loved him!! The space was very clean + and extra 5 stars from me❤️

I have been eating at American Asain for over 15 years. This has always been a local spot thst I’ve loved. I noticed new owners took over and the name was changed today when I drove there to see if they were open because no one answered when I called. Understandable because only one man was running the orders himself.
The man at the counter was nice and the food was ready pretty quickly for ordering in. The renovations look nice. I wasn’t super happy to see half of the sushi they had pre-owner change are no longer on the menu. The man at the counter said they still have the same chefs but I didn’t recognize a single face there… I went ahead and tried them since he said the chefs were the same, but they most definitely aren’t. Someone with 15 years of tastebud memories would know, lol.
Good: Crunchy tuna roll was actually better than before, Alaskan roll was also good, California roll was OK, but that’s a basic roll anyway. Crab Ragoons were also good and mixed green salad and ginger dressing were good too.
Bad: Hot and Sour soup isn’t like it use to be. Not a crazy amount of flavor and too thick/slime like bits in it. Miso soup had good flavor but no seaweed pieces like the old chefs added. Kung Pao Chicken use to be one of my favorites. Extremely blan even though I ordered it extra spicy. No spice at all. Chicken had a weird flavor but I’m very weird about my chicken. Definitely not at all like the old chefs made it, not even the same type of chicken used. Vegetables were also not cooked enough in my opinion. Egg roll was also not good at all.. hard to bite.. mushes when you try to bite it…and the inside was like.. not all the way done or full or something.. idk.. not for me.. don’t think it was done enough. The old egg rolls were awesome.
Would eat here again for their sushi, but not sure that I would risk trying any of the other chinese/entree dishes offered. I spent about $50 on all of this, so pricing is still good, but if they tell you the chefs are the same, don’t believe them and don’t order as you usually would. Try things knowing it is a new place vs expecting the old American Asain amazing food. (I don’t believe any of the old chefs or workers still work there and I didnt see a single person I recognized)

I just saw that they changed owners after We ordered our go to dishes and were very disappointed. Drunken noodles had very little meat and the noodles were all stuck together. The steamed dumpling appetizer had a very strange taste and the dipping sauce was a thick brown pasty sauce that was inedible. The egg rolls were barely edible and the fried rice had a strange taste also. Won’t be back, very disappointed because this was the only place that had good Chinese food in the neighborhood.
