Plenty of veggie options, but double check the ingredients of the soups if you have dietary restrictions. We will be eating here often !!!
I went to the store to place my order and was told it would take 30 minutes to be ready, but it was actually ready in 20 minutes and the staff was very nice.
I was surprised that there was only one spring roll for $4. (Their menu didn’t say how many rolls they had, but I thought $4 for a spring roll, which wasn’t particularly large, was overpriced.)
Fried rice was very tasty.
The noodles and ginger beef were little salty.
After cycling through all 237 eateries within Vernon city limits, I finally rocked down to Asian Avenue (Eddy Grant voice).
This past week I tried the 5 course combo at Jade, Golden Crown, Kiki Gardens, and here at Asian Avenue.
The chop suey here was my favourite of all the restaurants. Jade’s is great too but just overall a little too salty for me.
The decor is my favourite.
The sweet and sour chicken ranked right up there with Golden Crown’s.
The chow mein ranked right up there with Kiki Gardens.
The servers are really friendly here and I have known the owners for ten years. One of the servers is from the Philippines and the owners are from Hong Kong.
5 and 4 course combo pricing at all Chinese food restaurants I went to this week:
Golden Crown: $25.95
Jade: $22.99
Kiki Gardens (4 course combo): $25.95
Asian Avenue: $37
I think overall the combo meal is the best overall tasting of all four places but it is definitely the most expensive by far, and the portion size is a little bit smaller than Jade and Golden Crown but it’s still huge. They do give you two cups of sweet and sour sauce. Presentation looks really nice with the separate containers rather than one big mound on a plate like the other restaurants do.
The bathroom was clean and I always like being able to sit in a booth by myself. I wasn’t able to have a booth at any of the other restaurants.
I would prefer if they have single occupant bathrooms eventually.
Overall I really enjoyed my meal here and the great service. I plan to come back here sooner rather than later.
I paid $44.40 after tax and a 15 percent tip for my 5 course combo and water.
P.S. I miss the buffet. I know why it’s gone and understand the reasoning. It still makes me a little sad on the inside.
Original (Summer 2021):
I haven’t dined in here since before the pandemic. Today was the first day of the passport and was very happy to see it being fully enforced on the first day! They checked our IDs before letting us in, and those without were very politely refused and turned away.
They let my girlfriend get one spring roll for her combo, and I got the Shanghai noodles. Big portions and tasted delicious!
Staff is friendly as always!
Also, in the words of Andre 3000 everything was so was so fresh and so clean clean.
Please note buffet is discontinued during covid. I can’t wait for normalcy one day and stuff myself with soft serve ice cream smothered in chocolate syrup repeatedly at some point in the future!
