First time here. We came as part of a company Christmas party. The food was delicious. We had the hanger steak. My husband had risotto and I had garlic mashed potatoes. The waitress was skilled and kept everything straight. Can’t wait to return. I was so hungry, I forgot to take pictures of the food. lol. The place is spendy but worth it.

Fine dining experience in a casual environment, something you can generally only find in large cities at much higher prices.

This location has been a few things over the years and for a long time, an Italian place (which was good but there are plenty in this area). So refreshing to have Scott and Sarah Ash bring their touch and experience from Maxsells to create Ash’s.

Amazing food and cocktails including house made desserts. Great service from Brian as well.

Dining room and full service bar.

I would give 10 stars if I could. Fine dining without being pretentious.

To say my visit to Ash’s was thoroughly delightful is an understatement. Come on a journey with me. Nestled away off of the main road, it was easy to find. Ample parking.

Our hostess, Lexi, gave us a warm greeting and took us to the table we wanted immediately. Very nice ambiance in the restaurant; white tables clothes candle lit. Very clean.

Our waitress, Adriana, was A+++! Friendly, very personable, knowledgeable about the menu, and was appropriately attentive to our needs. She genuinely displayed a passion for the food they offer at the restaurant.

Now, for the incredible food experience.
Starters:
Crab cakes and the goat cheese balls.
The crab cakes are made with REAL crab and no filler. Cooked to perfection. Excellent flavor.
The goat cheese balls were light, crispy, golden brown. Served on a bed of mixed greens with a creamy honey lightly drizzled. The crunchiness of the outside was complimented by the sweetness of the honey and the gentle sharpness of the soft goat cheese is just magic!

Entree:
We had the wagyu mushroom burger with cheese, truffle oil fries and the veal schnitzel with asparagus, and mashed potatoes. Served with house made fresh bread and house made garlic butter.
Side salad with house made dressing options. Salad was nice and crisp, delicate croutons and cheese crumbled, I chose goat cheese.

The schnitzel was perfectly seasoned, and fried to be perfectly crunchy. Not greasy at all. The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy. The asparagus was cooked without being limp and the seasoning of all the good was on point.

The hamburger was cooked exactly how my husband ordered it. The French fries were well seasoned and golden brown. I had a bite of his burger and the flavor was incredible.

Dessert
They had several dessert options. We got the maple crème brûlée and I got the salted caramel ice cream. Did I mention they make the ice cream? It’s more like gelato. Spectacular finish.

Adult beverages
Bees knees & Tipsy Mermaid. Both drinks were well balanced so they were enjoyable. Not too sweet or overly boozy.

The owner, Sarah, stopped by to chat with us before we left. It is clear that she and her husband, Chef Steve, have a passion for the food. The staff is amazing too, which speaks to the owners.

This was a shockingly good find for an up north supper club. I would classify closer to fine dining… food was 11/10 we will definitely make another trip!

We had another outstanding dinner last night! Ash’s has officially become our favorite restaurant in the area. You can tell this is a family owned and operated business, everyone cares from the top on down. Lexi, you were great!

This place is fantastic!! We had planned to go elsewhere for anniversary dinner, but someone recommended this place at the last minute. It’s kind of in the middle of nowhere, but it was excellent. The goat cheese balls – outstanding, delectable. Both kinds of fish we got, wonderful. And the sweet corn ice cream? Never would have thought of it, nor thought it could be that good. Staff was outstanding and everything was made with great care. Thanks Ash’s!

It was my partner’s birthday and based on previous meals we had eaten here, we were looking forward to celebrating it there.
The server was ok, wasn’t great.
The food was awful.
It wss a disappointing experience that left a bitter taste in our mouths.

I wanted to send it back multiple times, my partner said not to bother because he wanted to try to enjoy his birthday with minimal fuss/issues.

The cheese plate (aka grilled cheese with balsamic) was burnt. Not just a little burnt, but black on the one side.
The pickled onions were not pickled long enough. They were not soft or tart. They had no tang. They tasted like red onions with a slight hint of sweetness.

The jambalaya was burnt. It also had no flavor or heat.
Jambalaya is supposed to have depths of flavor with Cajun or Creole influences.
It was burnt black (not blackened. Burnt)
The rice had a bitter/burnt/charred taste. It was soggy and over cooked.

The shrimp and rice was disappointing.
The rice was burnt. It had a bitter/burnt/charred taste. It was also mushy and over cooked.
I’m assuming that the chef used the same pot of rice for all the dishes, thus why both our dishes had burnt rice.
The shrimp were overcooked and chewy.
The cauliflower was undercooked. It was hard (too hard to break apart with a fork), and had a raw/nutty taste.

By the time my partner was half way through his meal, he had drank all his soda and water. He was never offered a refill.

I’m horrifed that the chef knew that all this food was burnt, yet still sent it out to the customer.
There’s clearly a complete lack of quality control, and no one seems to be checking what is coming out of the kitchen.
The hostess brought our entrees to us. The burnt jambalaya was obvious, yet she still served it to us.

We chose to go elsewhere for dessert.
My partner said that it was the worst meal he has had in this area (and that says a lot considering that most restaurants here aren’t great).

I would give them a 10-star review.
This restaurant is an absolute gem and a top notch restaurant! I have given a 5-star review before and it still holds true. Delicious food and consistent. We had the veal schnitzel, goat cheese balls, truffle fries, steak, mashed potatoes, broccolini, soup, salad, and delicious bread. None of us had room for dessert, there was a lemon blueberry crème brûlée on the menu last night.

The goat cheese balls are HEAVEN and just delightful. You’re doing yourself a disservice if you don’t try them.
The soup was so flavorful.
The salad I ordered with the house made French dressing and initially it didn’t look like there was enough dressing but WOW it was incredible flavor and just the perfect amount of dressing to complement the wild greens.
The schnitzel was golden brown, crispy and the meat nice and juicy.

It really hits all of the senses. Just go there! The wait staff is really fantastic!!! They are appropriately attentive without being intrusive. I’ve never felt rushed.

I’m a little biased because this is my brother’s & sister-in-law’s restaurant, but the food really is fantastic! Great spot in the northwoods for a little bit fancier scene. I would eat here every week if I could!

This is my favorite restaurant in town. Their food is top notch and super consistent. I’ve had outstanding service with every visit and always leave full and happy. My favorite dish is the mushroom pasta with salmon.
