The 3 of us walked in and were greeted by a smiling face and kind words. We were seated and quickly received our drinks. The naan was out of this world amazing! Crispy, fluffy and hot!!! The curry was rich and flavorful and had amazing depth of flavor. If I could give 10/5 stars I would!!! Must try place if you’re in Pleasonton area!

We ordered Sweet Lassi, Mango Lassi, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chole Bhature, Dal Makhani, Shahi Paneer and Garlic Naan. There was too much food color – so much so that my fingers were red for the next day. Both gravy’s – paneer & chicken tasted the same.

I had a fantastic experience at this Indian restaurant. The service was warm and attentive, making me feel right at home. Every dish I tried was absolutely perfect-rich flavors, authentic spices, and beautifully presented.
What stood out most was their halal menu, offering both chicken and beef options that were cooked to perfection. It’s not easy to find a place that nails both quality and authenticity, but this spot truly delivers.

Food is delicious. Portion is small ,but just fit the price. The garlic naan is crispy and the aromatic of garlic teste so good. We ordered shrimp tikka Masala and chicken korma, too. I like them. I like to eat their Bhatura dipped with Masala sauce.

Stopped in yesterday for take out. Food was freshly prepared in about 15 minutes and worth the short wait. The owner took our order and disappeared into the kitchen to prepare it, working hard. She was very friendly and we had a quick chat. Lots of dishes to choose from, we had dal (lentil) curry, with moderate spice and we enjoyed it. We also ordered a veggie fried rice, which was nicely prepared. Aloo Gobi (potatoes & cauliflower) was delicious. Prices are reasonable considering inflation, and competitive with other Indian restaurants in the area. Our family used to enjoy the buffet here, but with Covid concerns, it’s no longer offered, which we understand.

The food was very delicious, well-portioned and well-priced for the area. We ordered several different dishes and found the quality consistently excellent. The chai was especially worth ordering—warm, cozy, and comforting. Service was very attentive and friendly, with the owner himself taking care of us. The smell from the kitchen as our food cooked had my mouth watering. The atmosphere was lovely, with just-right lighting and lively Bollywood music that made the meal feel extra fun. I really enjoyed my night at Ashoka and would definitely recommend it!

We recently enjoyed a good lunch at this small northern Indian restaurant that’s reopened in Pleasanton. The Chicken Tikka Masala was a standout, delicious and easily our favorite dish of the meal. The Goat Biryani was flavorful, though some pieces of meat were a bit fatty. The Garlic Naan was exceptional – soft, fluffy, and just right. The Saag Paneer was okay, though the ginger pieces weren’t to our liking.
The experience was made even better by the friendly lady owner. It’s a nice addition to Pleasanton’s dining scene, especially for those of us looking for authentic Indian flavors. We’re eager to return and explore more of their menu.
