Very high quality fish, reasonable prices and great service. My last sashimi order was a little slow but it had gotten busy so I can forgive that This isn’t your average sushi. Phenomenal fish. Edit I returned for lunch and was not as impressed. The night before somebody ordered the hamachi combo next to me and it looked amazing. Thick pieces of quality fish nice big roll. So I ordered it for lunch and didn’t get anything like that. Very thin fish left unsatisfied and was impossible to ordrr anything else nor did the waitress ask how it was. The one waitress and 2 chefs are too busy with Togo orders to concentrate on the customers inside. Place has a lot of potential. Hopefully they can add some staff and fix the simple issues.

Quiet small restaurant in the middle of residential area. selection was large, there are options aside from sushi. Ramen was okay, nothing special. Appetizers were pretty good, I liked the fried tofu. Sushi was average, the roll wasn’t tight enough so when I picked it up, it fell apart. Not bad overall for the area.

I ordered a spicy tuna roll with avocado there was barely any tuna in it mostly tempura crunch. I asked for salmon skin hand roll with very little rice and avocado, no avocado and lots of rice but they still charged me for it. Service was very slow. Do not recommend.

Such a cozy experience. (4.75/5 in my opinion)
I ordered the yellowtail jalapeno, volcano roll, and miso soup. Everything tasted fresh, miso soup not overly salty. The vibes were super cozy. Will be returning!

Asahi Sushi & Ramen delivered exactly what I wanted. The food was legit good, the fried rice was spot-on and the sushi was absolutely awesome. Fresh, flavorful, no nonsense. The staff were super friendly and made the whole experience easy and pleasant. Solid place overall. Would definitely go back.

Decent local sushi spot in the area. Not much of ambience, i prefer their nigiri sushi / rolls than the ramen

What a great little gem of a place. It’s well decorated and the seating is spacious, nice to dine in.

I ordered the miso soup, three different rolls, and a pork gyoza that was to die for. It disappeared so fast I didn’t even take a picture.

All the fish tasted fresh and the prices for the regular rolls are actually quite nice. Worth a try if you live in the area and like sushi / ramen.

Really cool place, nestled in a residential neighborhood so it’s convenient to get to. The staff was very friendly but service was overall pretty slow given how few tables there were.

We started with a sushi tempura roll and a Valentine specialty roll. Ingredients were very fresh but the valentine roll didn’t have enough to justify the higher price.

The Tonkotsu ramen was good, not great. The ingredients all tasted good but the broth could’ve had more flavor; I expected a more rich pork flavor.

Still worth a stop.

Food is great and always fresh. It’s close to our home, so we come here occasionally and really enjoy the dishes. The only downside and the reason for the four stars is the service can be slow. We usually have to ask someone to come take our order, and it takes a while before they do. Otherwise, it’s a solid local spot with good food.

Asahi is one of those nondescript neighborhood restaurants in a residential area on a side street that you would have no idea it is there unless you were looking for it.

It does not look like much from the outside, or the inside for that matter. But, the quality of the food and sushi absolutely makes up what they may lack in ambiance.

My wife and I have easily spent thousands per month on seeking the best sushi and omakase here in the states with some meals costing over $700 and I say this with zero reservations that Asahi is on par with the finest sushi and Michelin rated restaurants in Manhattan.

They receive their fish from the same suppliers that supply the top Sushi spots in the city and their prices are beyond reasonable.

We eat here typically weekly.

Let’s start with the basics:

We usually start with either the miso or clear soup. Both are excellent choices with delicious and flavorful broths.

We skip appetizers and go for rolls and our own selection of individual pieces.

We always get at least two O-toro bluefin handrolls chopped with scallion.

They pack these rolls to the gills with the finest quality O-toro. These rolls are off the charts amazing!! I have yet found another sushi spot 5 star or less who makes a better O-toro negitoro handroll. We sometimes also get a negitoro roll as well plus a yellowtail scallion roll.

We then order a number of pieces:

Hamachi: some of the best, firm yet tender and what a wonderful flavor
Artic Char: rare to find. Very fresh, similar to salmon
Alaskan King Salmon: rare to find – excellent flavor
Scallops: very sweet, very fresh, incredibly good
Botan Ebi: they prepare these very well. Using outstanding sweet ebi
Seared Salmon Belly: not many sushi restaurants have salmon belly. And most are terrible at preparing it. They serve the best and prepare it very well.

All pieces are cut generously.

The only thing they could use some work on is their sushi rice. But, for the most part it is fine. That is simply a minor critique to help the establishment continue with its dedicated pledge of providing the best overall experience.

Overall you will be hard pressed to find a better quality sushi experience.
