We drove an hour to eat here for dinner and were met with very poor service from our server, Sebastian. We waited twenty minutes to order our food and it was only that short because I told him we were ready when he came by refilling my water and not asking us how we were doing or if we were ready to order. Not sure how long it would’ve taken if I didn’t say anything. After that, Sebastian did not visit our table a single time for the rest of our stay. Eddie was very helpful and was the one who brought our food, checked on us, cleared our table, and did our payment with no assistance from our server. I had asked Eddie how the tip system worked because I wanted all of our tip to go to him if I gave him cash, but I don’t think he understood and went and talked to Sebastian. We were approached by him asking if we needed anything after we had already paid our bill, gotten up, and Eddie had cleared our table. I would have loved to give a tip to Eddie, but we had no interest in our money going to someone who ignored us all night! We watched every other table get checked on by Sebastian while we sat in the middle of the dining room watching him walk right by our table without even looking. I am a server and my boyfriend also used to be, so we always make a point to tip very well and giver servers the benefit of the doubt, but Sebastian made it clear that he did not care about providing any kind of service to us! If it weren’t for the rest of the staff, I doubt we would have gotten anything more than water.
Despite all of this, the food was delicious and we really appreciated Eddie, so shoutout to him and the sushi chefs! Unfortunately, we will likely never come back because of this experience. Eddie deserves a raise.

Dine here if you want quality dishes! The sushi is delicious and fresh, the yaki udon noodles are hot and full of flavor, and the presentation never disappoints! The staff is so welcoming, pleasant, and accommodating. This will be a staple in my household for sure!

It’s the 2nd time we’ve ordered sushi from Asahi. Both times everything was absolutely delicious! They are very friendly…both on the phone, and in-person, I cannot recommend enough!

My friends and I were very excited to try this location since we are fans of the other location in Clinton Township. First off, the entire restaurant was very clean and spacious. I loved the aesthetic and decorations all around the place. The atmosphere itself was refreshing. I enjoyed it very much. The service was also great. All of the staff members treated us with respect and kindness. We felt welcomed and cared for during our meal. The food was very delicious. I am glad that it tasted just as good as the other location’s rolls. We ordered some of the tempura rolls, the Pink Lady roll, the Cajun Volcano, and the Livingston. They all tasted so, so good. My favorite is the Livingston roll. The Cajun Volcano roll is also very spicy, but if you can handle the spice, then you will be fine. Overall, we will be returning. The food and atmosphere are to die for!

Best place for Sushi. We used to live in Clinton Twp and frequented the Canal and Garfield location. We are in Rochester now and were so excited when this location opened. By far the best sushi around. The Awesome roll is truly AWESOME. The rainbow rolls are phenomenal. Really can’t go wrong with anything you order. The staff is so professional and kind. Try this amazing restaurant out. You will be very pleased.

Hands down one of the best sushi spots I’ve been to. The quality of the fish was top-notch—super fresh, great flavor, and the presentation was next level. But what really stood out was the staff. The owners are incredibly friendly and treated us like longtime friends, not just customers. It’s rare to find a place that gets both the food and the atmosphere so right. Hands down the BEST sushi in Michigan! I went to Asahi Sushi in Shelby Township and tried their viral sushi burrito — and wow… it completely exceeded my expectations. The quality of the fish was incredibly fresh, the flavors were perfectly balanced, and every bite was packed with taste.
You can tell they truly care about what they serve. The presentation was beautiful, the portions were generous, and the service was friendly and welcoming.
If you love sushi, this place is a MUST try. Highly recommended — I will definitely be going back again!

So much more than Sushi! They have a Japanese and Korean menu. We loved everything from spicy seafood soup, to the shrimp dumplings, the ahi tuna in ponzu sauce- and of course the sushi.
The service was perfect. They checked on us every 10 minutes and were smiling and friendly.
A new favorite spot! We’ll be back.
