Asadero comes from humble beginnings. In 2014, Chef and Owner David Orozco started his business in Kent outside of a popular Mexican disco in 2014. After several months, he moved into a brick and mortar space in a small strip mall in Kent.
Asadero Kent became successful from the start. The menu featured mesquite grilled meats reminiscent of Northern Mexico – known for it’s high quality beef. Served with fire-roasted salsa made in house, the spot became the place of legend in the greater Seattle area.
In 2016, Orozco opened Asadero Ballard in its namesake Seattle neighborhood. Those who traveled from Seattle to Kent now formed lines out the door to sample an expanded menu featuring various cuts of Prime and Wagyu beef. Viva Asadero!
Cool spot serving mesquite-grilled meats, housemade tortillas & salsas in moody environs.

We had a wonderful time here last night! Our server Lauren was a true delight and helped make the evening special. She helped guide our menu choices and everything she recommended was incredible. We even started off with customized water – they brought a tray of varied citrus slices for us to choose from, if we so desired. We so desired. It was a lovely touch. For our appetizers, we had the queso and bone marrow. At Lauren’s suggestion we saved some of the bone marrow for our steaks. Excellent choice. We were scraping the queso dish and the bones clean.
For our steaks we chose Japanese A5 wagyu and the Australian NY Strip Wagyu . They were cooked rare at the chefs recommendation (the best way – so delicious) and we could finish it more on the hot stones provided to each of us. The meat was so tender and well seasoned. Broccolini was our side.
The restaurant had a great atmosphere! Lively, a bit loud, and smelled delicious. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Definitely recommend a reservation! I never saw an empty table.

Out of all the Asadero locations, Asadero Ballard is by far the best. The food is always consistent, and the customer service is excellent every time.
Even though it’s in Ballard, it’s surprisingly easier to find parking here compared to other locations. They also have a dog-friendly outdoor patio with heaters, which makes it a great spot year-round.
The only thing I miss is the self-serve sauce bar they used to have before the pandemic. Still highly recommend this location.

Would give 6 stars if I could! Everything was top notch, from the hostess to the bartender and servers, to the food and drinks. We sat at the bar and our bartender was incredibly knowledgeable and answered all our many questions about the steak options and wine varietals.
Love that you can cook your own steak as an option! They refresh the hot plate when it gets cool, service was all around very attentive. We had the A5 Japanese ribeye and Australian waygu and preferred the latter because the Japanese cut was very very thin. Recommend wearing clothes you can easily wash because of all the juices splattering as it’s heated on the hot plates.

We were very surprised with our lunch experience here. Went there with low expectations honestly since we’re very picky with steaks. We tried many famous all kinds of steaks everywhere, so our bars are pretty high. We came on a quiet late afternoon after my doctor appointment. The ambience was great for date nights I supposed. The dim light and smaller tables create this intimate yet casual vibes. We chose Guacamole and Grilled Jalapeno for our side and appetizers, followed by the 1 cut for 2 Australian Wagyu Ribeye as they main dishes. It came with soup and salad. The potato soup was very hearty! Salad was refreshing. Everything was really enjoyable and good portion. The condiments gave some delicious extra ‘kicks’ to any dishes. Now let’s talk about the steak. Our server warned us that a split ribeye may results too much fatty area for each portion. But we were curious, so ordered it anyway. And he was right! lol. However, we were still amazed of how delicious it was! The hot stone definitely made a difference! The meat it self was soft, well marbled and fresh! They also have Japanese A5 Wagyu and Kobe from Miyazaki and Kagoshima prefecture. We’d probably try this next time. But even the Australian was very good already. I’ve tried several best steaks around Seattle and this is probably the best I’ve had. We also had Rice Puddings for our dessert and it’s perfect to end our lunch. I forgot our server’s name, sorry:( He gave us all these great recommendations including these Spanish Wines to compliment our food. Thank you!

We spent the day seeing the sights in Seattle, and found ourselves in Ballard, where in we decided to give Asadero a try
We were not disappointed
There are plenty of places that serve grilled meat. What’s special here are all the sides, the dipping sauces, and how well the meals delivered so many different flavors.
I would recommend going with a group so you can order different dishes and try them all
I’m definitely going to return

The meat tasted delicious, and they served generous portions. They included complimentary sauces and offered a small refresher at the end of the meal. The staff provided lovely service. I’ll definitely be going back.

This is my second time here. The first time was for dinner and the second was for lunch. The guacamole is so good. The potato soup with the broth is amazing. The salad was light and had a great dressing. The real hero is the steak. The steak was cooked perfectly and the seasoning on point. I’m from Chicago and I have need to all the high end steak houses. This is at the top of my list. They are amazing. If this was in Chicago you wouldn’t be able to get a table. Great job!!

I work in a Mexican restaurant so I know Mexican food. This place is INCREDIBLE. The level of service here really puts it into the top tier of restaurants in Ballard for me. The server knew everything about the menu and treated us like family.
To top off great service the food was absolutely delicious. The grade of steaks they use is really great. The cooks and look of their steaks are also perfect. Just a great experience from the moment we stepped in to when we left.
The desert is awesome too.

Worst carna asada I ever had. Fatty and not well seared. The portion of the beans is sad and taste is even worse. They successfully cooked cactus into something that’s impossible to cut or chew.
The steak is good but comes with no sides. It’s mostly the quality of the meat. Not sure where the cooking is. Or how is it Mexican.
Service is good.

Totally amazing experience! We had the American Waygu and Carne Asada, both were amazing. Probably the best steak I’ve ever had in Seattle. I love a rare steak and it was cooked perfectly.
Really good atmosphere and extremely good service.
Lots of great menu options without being too overwhelming. And while it is pricey, the portions are large and you are paying for high quality food.
Edit: we came back and had an equally great experience! I got a different cut of steak and it was still wonderful.
