I recently visited Arwa Yemeni Coffee in Bolingbrook, IL, while I was out charging my Tesla at a nearby supercharger, and it turned out to be one of those lovely spontaneous discoveries that make a morning special. The moment I stepped inside, I was struck by how beautiful and well-designed the space feels, with décor and seating that reflect rich Middle Eastern influences and create a really warm, inviting atmosphere that’s perfect for relaxing with a drink or sampling some of the treats on offer. There’s a great selection of Middle Eastern food and desserts on display, and even though lots of goodies were out and looked tempting, I was already happily full, so I saved them for another visit. I did try their cardamom coffee, which was absolutely delicious — fragrant, smooth, and uniquely spiced in a way that felt both comforting and a little exotic. The staff were friendly and welcoming, adding to the experience and making it clear this is more than just your average coffee shop. I absolutely plan to come back again soon to try more off the menu and enjoy the beautiful setting properly.

My sister discovered this place and told me about it! This beats any cafe I’ve ever been to and it was such an unexpected find! I mean just wow, I am amazed by the beautiful design of this cafe. The drinks are so rich, authentic, and delicious. I love their chai latte! I also tried their strawberry matcha. As a wedding cake designer, this is my go to place for consulting my wedding couples to fully immerse themselves in a beautiful setting with an incredible selection of drinks and pastries! Looking forward to making this part of my regular schedule!

11/22/25 update:

This is my second time at this location. We came at night on a Saturday. Surprisingly, it wasn’t busy. However, my favorite spot to sit in was taken up by this huge Filipino family that looked like they’d been sitting there for hours and hours. All of the kids were jumping on all of the seats. I would suggest coming here in the day time when there are no kids, that way you can see the cleaned look. Also, the customer service was fine. I believe the negative reviews are from Karen’s that only know American culture.

We ordered pistachio cheesecake, royal halwa, sand dunes latte, and pistachio matcha. I didn’t care too much about the royal halwa. It was a bit too sweet. However, I enjoyed the pistachio cheesecake and the matcha. The matcha selections you can find on that advertising screen that cycles through images.

I’ve been to so many Middle Eastern cafes in the West Chicago burbs and I’ve been to the Arwa location in Naperville. Arwa in Bolingbrook is definitely the most aesthetic inside. I saw they had a mango fruit cake but I wished they had more fruit cakes. I went to Pistachio Sweets in Morton Grove and they had a big selection of fruit cakes. I ordered the mango fruit cake here, honey cake, and red tea. I liked the mango fruit cake here because it’s creamier than the other one. The honey cake was not sweet and had a nice texture. The red tea was good, it came out. The two ladies that worked 10/28/25 in the morning after 9 am were very pleasant. The price for the tea was reasonable. The prices for the two cakes are on the expensive side like $10 each.

Arwa Yemeni Cafe offers a beautifully authentic and culturally rich atmosphere that truly stands out. The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the customer service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish.

While I really appreciated the traditional Yemeni concept and presentation, the food and coffee didn’t quite meet expectations. The flavors were milder than expected and lacked the depth and richness I was hoping for. That said, the overall experience was still enjoyable thanks to the environment and service. With a bit more focus on enhancing the flavors, this place has the potential to be truly outstanding.

Arawa Coffee is fantastic! The shop is very clean and welcoming, with a relaxing atmosphere that makes it easy to stay awhile. I tried both the Sand Dune and the Yemeni coffee, and they were excellent—rich, flavorful, and clearly crafted with care. Highly recommend stopping in if you’re in the area!

Absolutely a beautiful experience. Right across the parking lot from Ikea and five minutes from Costco. Take a break here and enjoy fantastic and authentic coffees, teas, refreshments, and sweet treats. Unconditionally recommended.

Good Adeni tea, but I still prefer how Qahwah House in Lombard brews their chai. FYI – The pot size is equal to about 2 large to-go cups but the price is 3 times that. So if you want the experience, get a pot for 2 ppl and pay extra. Otherwise, better to have each person get their own cup. The pastries are yummy and you can get them heated up.

The space is beautiful. Gorgeous interior. The tables are clean and there is plenty of seating. There is even a lounge area.

The service was lackluster. No greeting upon entering or at the counter. The cashier never smiled and I was the first to greet him. The man who was assisting him was reserved as well. The owner was friendly, but that wasn’t until the end of our visit. First impressions matter. I left feeling uninclined to go out of my way to return here.

The latte was alright. After saving the rest for later, I realized I enjoyed it better cold. If I come back out to IKEA in a few months, I might give this place another chance. But there is a lot of competiton for $8 lattes from similar competitors.

My husband and I tried out this place for a quick coffee date this evening. The coffee was wonderful! I had the Yemeni Latte and the cardamom syrup was so delicate and delicious. My husband had one of the traditional coffees and the spices were so aromatic.
The staff was also super gracious and friendly. They gave us samples and told us about their menu, and talked about the process of hand-harvesting their coffee and having it shipped to the US. Loved learning new things!
The atmosphere was beautifully exotic and chic, yet also warm and hospitable.
Can’t wait to go back and try something else— maybe even a pastry! 🙂
