Finally! After a long search for authentic Karnataka-style dosas in NJ, we came across Arusuvai. Their Benne Dose is a perfect tribute to Vidyarthi Bhavan, crispy on the outside and slightly fluffy on the inside, just like it’s supposed to be. It has that reddish-brown hue and is full of flavor. It’s a bit pricey, but honestly worth it if you’ve been hunting for a real Karnataka dosa in NJ! Great find for a nostalgic meal!
Tried a few other appetizers, chats, roti and curries during other visits, all tasted good. Weekends are buffet only which has plenty of vegetarian variety, plus live counters for some dishes like idli, dumplings etc. It does get crowded then. Waiters are prompt and cordial.

I most often get disappointed when I eat in South Indian (Tamil) restaurants in the US simply because I know how food is supposed to taste, having grown up with that all my life. That said, Arusuvai was one of the few restaurants that did not let me down. My parents loved the food, and I was impressed with the taste and quality, as well as the authenticity.

We had ordered Briyani, Parotta, and Mutton Curry for lunch, and had also ordered Crab Masala for to go. They all tasted very good, especially the crab. Food might seem a little on the pricey side but I think it is definitely worth it.

Staff were friendly and Service was fast enough but we did visit pretty on the tail end of the lunch rush, so not sure how the service will be when they are packed. Decor was pretty much standard South Indian restaurant style.

We recently visited this restaurant for their Saturday buffet, and the experience was exceptional. The food was truly outstanding. As someone from South India, I genuinely felt as though I was dining back in my hometown.

The buffet offered an impressive variety of dishes, and each item was prepared to perfection. Everything we tried was flavorful and authentic, making it difficult to decide what to sample next—nothing could be overlooked.

I highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates authentic South Indian cuisine.

In my opinion, the buffet is not worth $30 per person. Being asked to pay before entering the dining area felt unusual, and the limited food selection along with the below-average presentation explained why. I’d value this buffet closer to $15.

I personally found the food too spicy, though others may enjoy that level of heat. The two biryani options were average in taste. Overall, the food quality was just average, and I don’t see myself returning here.

We recently ordered catering from Arusuvai and had a truly wonderful experience. From start to finish, everything was handled so well — the packaging was neat and thoughtfully done, the delivery was perfectly on time, and most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious.

We ordered Sadya items, and every single dish tasted homely, authentic, and full of flavor. You could really feel the care and quality in the cooking. All our guests loved it.

Highly recommend — reliable service and genuinely great food. Will definitely be ordering again!

My wife and I visited for Sunday Brunch
Cost was $30 per adult for a buffet.

Food : okay not worth the cost in my opinion. There was a one table for veg & non veg. I guess the owners are not concerned with cross contamination. My estimation for the food would be $15 at best. I’ve had better in any of the Buffet places on Oak Tree Road. There was a (veg , chicken) momo station which had some other delightful goodies to try. Now this part i thought was the highlight of the experience.
Was it worth 30 … definitely not for me .

Atmosphere: super crowded now enough space to walk to the food tables from your seats. Also the table were super wobly my wife almost tipped our table accidentally. Looked like they had just converted a run down office which still had projectors on the ceilings to a sit down resturant. They just put in a ton of table to optimize stretch their profits.
Again not worth the $30 price tag.

Service…not sure what to say here… with barely enough room to move im surprised I got any service here.

Message to the owner…. plan out your service area better. Hire an interior decorator because you’re charging a 5 star restaurant price for a barely 2 star resturant experience.

We visited Arusuvai after 4yrs, it was horrible back then so we were hesitant to come today. But glad we tried it was really fresh and tasty. The staffs are also very friendly and caring. Everything came out quick less oil and really great taste. It will be our favorite spot here on, give a visit if you really love South Indian cusine and we ordered only non veg items. We got ginger chilly calamari, chicken manchurion, crab soup, crab masala Chettinad and Malabar parotta.

We visited this place for the first time without any expectations. This place really exceeded my expectations. Firstly the staff were friendly , courteous and respectful. Service was very good and fast. Food was tastier, it can be more spicy. We ordered goat sukka and flakes parota. They both are super tasty and food was great. I recommend for a BYOB with some spicy and tasty appetisers. I recommend this place.

We had a delightful dining experience at Arusuvai Restaurant NJ! From start to finish, everything was flavorful and satisfying. The Tandoori Chicken was perfectly grilled with just the right amount of smokiness and spice. Chicken Lollipop was crispy on the outside and juicy inside—an instant hit with our group.

The Shrimp Biryani stood out with its rich aroma and well-balanced spices, while the Mutton Biryani was tender and deeply flavorful. We also tried the Egg Street-Style Noodles, which had that classic Indo-Chinese street flavor we love.

One of the highlights was the Gongura Chicken—a tangy and spicy Andhra-style dish that really impressed us. The Parotta was soft and flaky, pairing perfectly with the curries.

To top it off, the Sweet Soda added a nostalgic touch and rounded off the meal beautifully.

Overall, Arusuvai lives up to its name by offering an explosion of authentic South Indian and Indo-Chinese flavors. Definitely coming back to try more!
