There are a lot of BBQ places in KC. But there is only one Arthur Bryant’s on Brooklyn. Its all original and you will not be disappointed. I had the brisket sandwich and it was great. You get it on white bread the way it was designed to come. The half order of fries is probably good enough for 3 to share. I of course ate it all myself.
There are fancy places and those that have some better dishes, but this is the bucket list restaurant to hit when you come to KC.

I was looking for a true, hometown feeling location to experience KC BBQ and this really felt like the place. I know some comment it’s not in the best neighborhood. But my home is Michigan. I know Detroit. If you don’t give some love to the local spots, you’ll lose what makes a city special and unique. This place isn’t going for flash, it’s all about the meat and BBQ. This met those expectations. A group of us came in around 7pm and I’m not quite sure why but some of the menu items were sold out of like the Ribs but I came for the brisket anyway, so it wasn’t a bother. Fresh cut right in front of you, lots and I mean lots of meat, which explains the pricing too. So come hungry or be ready to take leftovers home. The beans were also sold out for the day but had the mac & cheese along with trying the potato salad. Both sides were excellent, combining the Mac with the brisket and BBQ was also quite good. Cups you get can be considered a souvenir. Wall with pictures of all the famous people who have visited. Very old diner type seating as well. Guy at the register said the place was established in 1908. So if you want something that is pure local and you can taste the history of the city. This is it.

As a serious BBQ lover, I don’t write negative reviews lightly. After trying Truth BBQ in Houston and being blown away by their brisket — unbelievably juicy, tender, almost melt-in-your-mouth — I came back to Kansas and made the mistake of telling my coworkers that Kansas brisket felt dry in comparison.
The reaction?
“NO WAY.”
I was immediately told I had to try this place.
So I did.
Order:
• Half pound brisket
• Half slab ribs
• Half order French fries
Honestly? I felt extremely disappointed.
The brisket was dry. Not “lean cut” dry. Just dry.
The ribs were also dry — and here’s the ironic part: when the staff was cutting the ribs into individual pieces, it was so tough that he struggled. He eventually tossed that slab aside and grabbed another one to cut. That moment probably should have been my sign.
I genuinely wanted to like it. I walked in hopeful. I love good BBQ. I don’t go in looking to criticize.
Maybe it was an off day.
Maybe I caught a bad batch.
But compared to the depth of smoke, moisture, and richness I experienced in Houston, this fell very short.
Still learning to allow myself to make “bad choices” and just laugh about it.
But this one hurt a little — especially as a BBQ lover.
If you’re reading reviews, I’d suggest focusing on the newest ones. Quality can change over time.

First stop off the plane from Washington! Best choice we made all day. Delicious bbq (brisket and burnt ends, burry me with em) and don’t miss out on the coleslaw and fries! The highlight though, was the service. So incredibly friendly, helpful and just a great overall energy through the whole staff. See ya next time!

Only take out orders are currently available as of today . I ordered on door dash just so I can try it since I am not from KC. I called the store and requested sauces and pickles. When I recived my order I didn’t receive any sauces or pickles. No napkins, no utensils and it was clearly going to a hotel. I was very disappointed and as they say first impressions last. I would’ve preferred to judge based on a sit in when its fresh but this is mostly about the service

Best barbecue I’ve ever had. Loved it. Will definitely be going back. I had the brisket sandwich and fries and my friend had the turkey sandwich and onion rings. We both really liked what we had.

Ordered a half pound of Brisket and Turkey meat, the customer service was excellent and the wait was not too bad considering it was really busy during lunchtime but worth it especially since the food was so good. The staff here are very professional and welcoming. This place is a great place to stop by for some classic original barbecue.

Kansas City Missouri is known for their delicious BBQ so after reading about this place and given the recommendation to try we decided to check it out. We were traveling from Virginia to fort Riley Kansas over the holiday and on the trip back home we finally got the chance to try Arthur Bryant BBQ. Now let’s say this no disrespect intended but I would have never chosen this place based on location, or atmosphere because it’s old, outdated and on the verge of being unappealing to eat there so if you can get past that part the food is good. Baked beans were awesome thick and rich flavor, French fries were not but fresh cut potatoes the way I like but not recommended if you can’t have saturated fats. That’s what makes them so good. Potato salad was perfect texture and taste. The BBQ was good tender with a balanced taste although just to much fatty pieces with gristle than I prefer. I didn’t like the bun that the sandwich was served on at all it was to thick, cold and had no flavor. Staff was super friendly and helpful. I recommend that you try Arthur Bryant BBQ and decide what you think I will go back.

EXCELLENT brisket here! Had a sandwich and some of the best baked beans I’ve ever tasted. Definitely a worthy spot to visit if you’re in KC!

Arthur Bryant’s has always been a staple in Kansas City. But unfortunately like many places it is under new ownership. Went there before a Chiefs game and got food to go. If you’re planning on eating here bring extra money because a sandwich will set you back $20.50 for one which no longer includes fries that is a separate charge. You will also notice if you’ve been here previously that you get four pieces of bread versus prior visits of 6 to 8. They now put the sauce on the side, the sauce is an acquired taste anyway. The flavor of the meat was still very good but the fries were incredibly greasy. You will still see the original decor and the service is always extremely helpful.
