Artha Rini Indonesian Restaurant had been on my list for a long time, and I’m very glad I finally had the chance to visit. From start to finish, the experience was excellent — food, presentation, atmosphere, and service were all on point.

To start, I tried the Mendoan, a lightly fried tempeh that was soft inside and crispy outside, full of aroma and flavor, and the Tahu Gejrot, fried tofu served with a sweet, tangy, slightly spicy sauce that really stood out.

For the main dishes, I ordered the Rendang and Nasi Goreng Ayam. The Rendang was outstanding — deeply flavorful, perfectly spiced, and incredibly tender. It’s clear this dish was prepared with time, care, and attention to detail. The Nasi Goreng Ayam was comforting, well-seasoned, and very satisfying.

The space is warm and welcoming, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. This is a place I definitely plan on returning to and would happily recommend to anyone looking for authentic Indonesian cuisine.

A great spot and a place I truly hope continues to thrive.

I wish this restaurant is closer to where we live. I would say the top Indonesian Restaurant in the area that so close to the one I tried in Asia.

We got beef rendang and nasi something with fried chicken. So, I really hope they will have a nasi goreng with fried chicken (should’ve asked but not on the menu) that is what I miss.

The place feels homey and pretty immersed with different indonesian products and culture. They have seats that could be arranged for big to small groups. They probably can cater events as I saw they have a nice setup in the back. Also you will see them making your food so that’s nice.

Note:

Parking is will be anywhere around the building even it says only for that specific business. Apparently they are shared parking.

Restroom is outside the building to the left going up to the stairs and ring the bell.

It’s pretty different but they made it worked.

Overall this place is a gem.

I met my dad here for lunch and wasn’t quite sure what to expect walking in, but I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is small and filled with Indonesian decor and cultural items, which made it feel warm and authentic right away. It slightly exceeded my expectations.

The space is cozy and casual, though because it’s on the smaller side, even a couple of parties can make it feel a bit crowded. It’s very clean, and it feels like the kind of place where you could sit, eat, hang out, and even get a little work done if that’s your thing.

I ordered the beef rendang, and it was excellent. The portion size was generous and the flavor was rich and well-balanced. As someone who is part Indonesian, I found the food to taste authentic. I would absolutely reorder it, but I’m also excited to come back and try other dishes.

Service was quick and efficient. The food came out fast, and they were able to answer my questions about the menu before I ordered. I’d describe the pricing as moderately affordable, especially for the portion size and quality.

A couple practical notes: parking can be a little tricky. You can usually park behind the restaurant, just be careful not to park in spots reserved for other businesses. Also, the bathroom is accessible, but you have to step outside and go up the side stairs to enter from a different door. It’s a bit unusual, but I was glad they had one available.

Overall, I’d definitely return, especially since I work near Kensington. If you’re interested in or familiar with Indonesian cuisine, this is a great lunch spot to check out.

I was very excited to try this place, but the food was very underwhelming unfortunately. Everything tasted very bland and with very little spice. I am used to Indonesian food having much more punch and rich flavor.

I had the rice platter with the beef redang, chicken, and spicy egg. Meat was tender with the beef, chicken was a little dry but ok, but mostly the curry flavor for each was minimal as mentioned.

Service was friendly and nice, just a little slow initially, but totally fine.

Place is small but filled with great Indonesian art and other nice decor.

Very special authentic Indonesian restaurant. Dishes are special but also very delicious. I was one person so just ordered Tempeh, Jackfruit curry and rawon. I will definitely go back and try the other dishes.

The food was good, and they had a lot of snack options. It was a little bland for me since I’m used to Indonesian food with richer flavors. I especially loved the pempek kapal selam. The service was okay

My husband spent time in Indonesia for work, he immersed himself into the culture experiencing the local cuisine and felt this resteraunt hit the spot for Indonesian dishes he enjoyed while living there. I had the Gado Gado, a plentiful bowl of greens, potatoe, tofu and peanut sauce. He had the Randang, a beef dish that was moist and flavorful. Would highly recommend when craving a savory and hearty meal with great atmosphere and service

Figuring out parking here is tricky. Has a real family feel to the place. The food tastes super homemade. Everything was flavorful and didn’t feel like there was a lot of salt to the food which is a plus for me. There are a lot of interesting dishes so would like to come back and try more things.

A tasty little gem in Kensington. The food was very good and delivered promptly to our table. The Udang Saus Padang had just the right amount of spiciness in the sauce. The menu picture makes it look more like a fried fish with orange sauce but it is more like a shrimp creole type affair. Though many dishes are noted to not include rice this one was not but still didn’t include rice and for the price it really should include rice. The rendang spicy beef stew was not spicy at all. The beef was tender but not spicy and rather bland for my taste.
There is no parking immediately nearby though there is street parking a short distance away from the shop.

Had a great lunch at Artha Rini! Everything was flavorful and served hot. The tempeh mendoan was crispy and well-seasoned, paired nicely with cabe rawit. The nasi uduk was super fragrant — coconut rice wrapped in banana leaf and really tasty on its own. Chicken breast was moist, and all the sides worked well together.

We also loved the rice platter with beef rendang, grilled chicken, and jackfruit curry — rich, creamy, and full of flavor. The sambal terasi tied it all together.

Best of all, everything here is halal, which was important for us. Highly recommend to anyone craving delicious food!
