Busy lunch time but greeted and seated straight away. Lily was our waitress. She did a great job. No complaints. This was our first time here. We ordered a cup of soup to start. Split Pea and Ham. It was fantastic ( a bowl would have been a meal). Lots of ham chunks and great flavor. Only served with one packet of generic “Gordon Foods” crackers (pretty blah) for a soup this good. I ordered the Reuben sandwich, and my wife ordered the Slim Jim sandwich. Both with fries. Everything was served hot and fast. Nice. My wife asked for some Heinz 57 sauce, and they had it. A nice surprise since most places don’t carry this condiment. Everything tasted great. So no issues there. The only issue with the trip was cashing out. The hostess seemed she had better places to be. She did the generic question “how was everything” without expecting any reply. When I had my card ready to tap to pay I asked where to do it and she abruptly took my card from me, did the tap and handed it back. That quick. Okay, that was a surprise. Oh well, we all have those days. We will be back besides that little hiccup. As a FYI. Two Sandwiches with fries, two cups of soup, and two soft drinks came to $42.40 plus tip.

Food was pretty good and priced about right. Kinda cramped with the sheer amount of tables and chairs crammed together. My refill of water was lukewarm. Other than those two things, it was pretty good.

There were plenty of seats avaliable and we were seated right away. The restaurant is very clean and tidy. I especially like the counter in the lobby filled with baked goods. Once we were seated we realized it was quite chilly. When we mentioned it to our server she said that’s normal. We ended up eating with our coats on the entire meal. This was in February. The food was mediocre at best. I had the hot beef sandwich. The portion size was generous. The gravy was obviously from a jar and was too gelatinous. The beef didn’t taste as fresh as it could have. It wasn’t the worst hot beef or the greatest hot beef I ever had. It was mediocre. I would not order it again. I might try something like a burger. I hear the bran muffins are outstanding but I didn’t try one.

Don’t sleep on this restaurant. The staff are excellent, I come here for breakfast sometimes and I can’t drink my coffee fast enough. Always checking in, super friendly and they know their stuff! The food is incredible, my go to is the Irish Benedict, chefs kiss.

Great burger with awesome chipotle mayo! Aboundingly JOYFUL service. Decent prices.

– BYO Burger – $14.50 (with fries): I ordered mine with American cheese ($1), bacon ($2.50), tomato, lettuce, ketchup, and chipotle mayo. The burger patty was about medium and seasoned well. It tasted like it was flame broiled, but was a bit too juicy to be true.

The burger overall was amazing and the chipotle mayo was the star component! It has a very slight kick which brings it to almost any mouth and the flavor is full of savory goodness. The toppings overall were well balanced, but very slightly sloppy. It held together in the end just fine.

– Fries: They cost an extra $1.50 to replace the kettle chips. Mine weighed 5oz (140g) so it is a decent amount. They are thicker steak fries and fairly good. Mine were a tad cold when catered but they were warm when ordered in the restaurant. Mine had almost no salt, but that is easily remedied. I’m always complaining restaurants put too much salt on the fries, so this was actually a bit welcomed. HA HA!

– Patty Melt: The chipotle sauce was a good addition and was very mild. The rye and swiss is a classic combo for that hearty flavor. There were a lot of medium chunks of onion on it, too. I’d recommend it.

– Grilled Chicken (from a previous visit) – $9: It is a small 6oz grilled chicken with fries and potatoes and gravy. The chicken looked dry, but was actually VERY moist and delicious!

– Smothered Meatloaf (6.5 oz) – $14.50 – It was fairly good. Nothing spectacular, but it was moist and cooked properly. It was topped with gravy, mushrooms, and onions that were prepared as expected. Maybe I should have seasoned it further with salt and pepper? It is only available Thursdays.

– Potatoes and Gravy (11.25 oz) – Kind of plain, but not bad. The gravy seemed to be a box mix. It was on the runny side and in fact became a problem leaking out the sides. It was savory enough, though.

– Roll (1.5 oz) – Light and fluffy with a slightly sweeter flavor.

– Salad (6.25 oz) – Extremely loaded with toppings, especially cheese. It had iceberg and romaine lettuce, cheddar monterey jack cheese, croutons, a slice of tomato, carrot shavings, a couple pieces of purple cabbage?, and a side of ranch dressing.

– Steak and Eggs Breakfast – $15.75 – Good steak. Missing that professional sear, but was decent nonetheless. I ordered it medium and I’d say it was fairly close to medium. It was a little on the tough side, but I could tell from the color it was not overcooked. I also ordered it seasoned, but it was only lightly seasoned and had to add more salt and pepper (something I rarely do). It was served on a metal plate to maintain temperature.

Generally, like a lot of their other food, the sides were not overly seasoned. The hash browns were crisped nicely. The eggs sunny side up were great, too. The rye bread was a swirled type and was on the sweater side for rye with a good amount of butter.

– Coffee – Good. They had liquid creamer cups and standard sugar packets. I had two cups.

– Service: I have never been to a place where the staff smiled so much! WOW!

– Atmosphere: Busy for a reason. We still got right in many times, but know it is very busy. It feels like it was remodeled relatively recently (as of 2023). The general tone was bright, cheerful, and welcoming (much like the staff). There is some wood trim. Everything was clean and had a new feeling to it.

– Conclusion: I’d HIGHLY recommend this family restaurant to anyone for many reasons. They have been around for years, although previously as Rainbow Grill. I visited several times before the name change, too, and it was great then. They are still owned by the Zondervan’s, but under a new name and they know what they are doing (see their story on their website). Many MANY others seem to think so, too, as it is still very popular.

Visited on a Thursday in November 2023 (chicken) and had lunch catered by work a couple times (burger Nov 2024, meatloaf with sides and steak/eggs in Apr 2025).

Another just average place food and service wise. The interior is clean but looks so sterile and void of personality.
Easy access from the freeway if that is important to you.

Even though the lot was packed, I was seated quickly, my server (Tabi) was awesome. I went with steak and eggs and it was good, the toast actually had butter on it (something that seems to have been lost in the world) all in all very good and don’t be scared of it looking busy.

Party of four. Seated quickly. Nice atmosphere. Friendly service. Fair prices. Cinnamon roll and blueberry muffin very good. Processed chicken fingers and fries. Personally, I like vegetable beef soup made with potatoes instead of rice. Just my opinion. Enjoy.
