Opportunity for family to get together for birthday celebrations. Would recommend prebooking. The food was good however most of them were very hot I am from the Caribbean and enjoy my spices but unfortunately even for me the pepper was a bit challenging! The seating also was not the most comfortable for a party more than two. For parties more than two you were seated on what essentially was a sofa and you either ate with the food in your lap or on a centerpiece table bending forward! If your pilot enjoys extremely peppery food as in volcano hot you would enjoy. I am planning to go back a next time, however I will be telling them to reduce the pepper! The goat meat was very chewy!

I called Aroma in the morning to make sure they were open, and they confirmed that they were. Later that evening, I went there with my friends to celebrate my birthday. When we walked in, I noticed some birthday balloons, but I didn’t think much of it at first. I asked the hostess if we could be seated, but she just looked at us, confused.
I then asked if there was a party going on, and she said yes. I asked again about seating, and she told us they were only offering outdoor seating. Since it was a little chilly, I asked my friends if they were okay with sitting outside or at least grabbing some drinks. Everyone agreed, but then she told us they weren’t serving drinks at that time.
So I said, “Okay, we’ll just eat,” and asked if we could be seated outside. She looked at us like she didn’t even want to bother, At that point, I decided to leave.

If the restaurant was focused on hosting a private birthday party, they should’ve either shut down for the night or clearly communicated that they wouldn’t be serving regular customers. The lack of communication and the way we were treated was really disappointing…especially on my birthday!

Update: 8/13/22 visit was surprisingly better than the initial visit; maybe because we went during the weekday. Nonetheless, our food came out hot and tasty and our server knew the menu well 3/5 stars for now. See pics of what we ordered: Pepper soup, Asún, pounded yam and Long Island

Visited the restaurant for the first time on Friday July 22, 2022 with my boyfriend. We tried booking online but that feature doesn’t work, so we called the restaurant to try and reserve a spot only to be told that they were all booked and to walk in. We came early on Friday at 8pm to try and reserve a spot two hours in advance and was pretty much told if we weren’t purchasing a bottle and spending a minimum of $500, we couldn’t get a table- which I thought was pretty ridiculous. Apparently the Restaurant turns into a club/lounge at 9pm. We asked for our names to be put down on a list and was told they didn’t do that either and to come back. We went to our event and returned at 10pm, after waiting for 15 minutes, I requested to speak with a manager. It took the manger another 30 minutes to attend to us; mind you, there were 4 managers working that evening!! Thankfully she was very nice and understanding of our situation and was able to find us a table after we were practically told by the hostess there weren’t any tables available smh. We got seated around 10:45pm and it took our waiter another 15-20 minutes to attend to us. We placed our drink order and appetizer orders. 45 minutes passed and our orders did not come out- apparently our waiter never placed our order in to begin. I went to the bar to order another drink because I was so frustrated and hungry. The waiter saw me at the bar ordering my drink and then proceeded to grab the drinks and bring it to our table along with an appetizer that we didn’t order as an apology. Mind you our orders still hasn’t come out from the kitchen, by this time it was almost midnight and I was worried that our meal would never come out and we wouldn’t be able to order our entrees. I went to the front to speak with the manager again alerting her that since we’ve been seated over two hours our orders haven’t arrived. The waiter then tried to explain herself shifting the blame on the kitchen – lack of accountability if you ask me. We eventually got our food which all came out cold. We ordered the asún, pepper soup, moi-moi and wings and took a combined total of 12 shots. Overall, the ambiance is inviting and the women’s bathroom is clean; however, the customer service is severely lacking and the menu choices are very limited and somewhat discouraging—What is presented online is not what they have in the Restaurant. Advise to management, 1. hire servers who knows the menu and knows how to deliver customer service. 2. Have a system in place for walk in customers – you’ll make more money by setting a 2 Hr dining minimum and not just holding them to a $500 table limitation. 3. Cater to your younger audiences not just those 40/50 and over. I’m rooting for y’all because this is a Nigerian establishment- there is something viable in Aroma Lounge, please make us proud !!

I ordered my food, paid for my food online. received a confirmation email with pick up time…checked the website, the restoration says its open. drove to the restaurant the doors ar3 closed no lights, called the number given no answer, no customer server, no notice anywhere. I want my money back ASAP. this is just poor service all around. if you’re closed let people know. I cant find the button to leave zero stars.

The ambiance is lovely, however the place is very very small and has an inefficient indoor floor plan, outdoor is a bit bigger. The food is avg $35/plate, the portions are not too big, not too smal and the food tastes just OK. Mandatory 18% gratuity added to bill. For party of 2 plan to spend around $150. The main reason that I’m giving it a 2/5 is because the service is HORRIBLE. We waited 30 minutes for someone to come take our order and we actually had to go find someone, they didn’t come on their own. There were only 3 tables including ours, so they weren’t even busy!! If you want to eat here:
1. Don’t come when you are hungry because you will waittt and the food portions aren’t very large.
2. When you arrive make friends with a waitress there and hope she gives you good service.

Saw an online recommendation about this spot so went with a friend to check it out. The entrance was really pretty and the restaurant itself is a decent size though not a whole lot of seating. We didn’t have Reservations so we sat at the bar. We got two drinks each and both were really good and strong. Ordered the wings and yam platter as starters..wings were a bit burnt and a small serving ..we enjoyed the yam platter though. For our main course..we got the jollof wrap and nkwobi to share. I really liked the nkwobi although it was 26 dollars! Lol. Jollof wrap was decent too.
Service was not bad overall though they don’t have to work too hard with an 18% gratuity on all checks. If you want some decent nigerian food..its worth checking out but be ready to pay quite a bit.

I finally visited Aroma Ultra lounge on a Friday. I really love the ambiance, good music and the food was okay. They literally took me on a trip to Lagos.
However, the service is not up to par! I hope they improve with time. This is definitely my go-to spot for good vibes and good music.
I highly recommend

It’s a nice African spot right in Bowie. Went there too early, so I wasn’t able to try the goat. The pineapple wings and the sorrel drink were fantastic.

The food was good! The Beef suya had good flavor and good spice. The hot sauce that came with the fried plantains was really good and really spicy. The atmosphere is definitely more lounge than restaurant. The seats are at the bar and in the bar area are a bit small, and not hip friendly. The seating outside also looked small. I recommend calling ahead for a reservation or just sitting at the bar.

Please reserve in advance, it’s like Fort Knox, especially if you want hookah. Every available seat occupied. Me and my sister grabbed a table at the bar (by luck) and wanted hookah, can only do outside and if wanted table had to buy a bottle after a certain time. You cannot reserve that day of either. The food was fresh, but I ordered a Caesar salad and they ran out of Cesar dressing. My sister ordered lamb suya and they only had beef. Nonetheless we ate it. The drinks were mid. The bartender was nice and gave us shots on the house, so that was nice, despite having to leave because we wanted to have hookah. The dj / host was good, working the crowd And high energy. Definitely cannot drop by here, you need to plan to go here if you want outside priority with the option to hookah. Waiting to get in for a reservation seemed to be unorganized as well there was 15 people sitting waiting to be seated. Glad we sneaked in and found a seat at the bar.
