We ordered bhuna ghee goat, dhaniya chicken curry both gravy tasted different and special. The masala was like totally made up get real flavor. Not ready mix masala. Unlike other hotels they use similar curry base and change a bit u don’t feel that difference . Here it’s special authentic taste .
Chicken meat and goat meat was tender.
Unlike other where u get chewee / fiberee meat.
Started chicken ladini kabab was best kebab moist proper cooked and tender chicken.
Don’t miss this Indian restaurant truly authentic.
Most Indian restaurants you go to typically tone down the spice level to appease a wider palate. I did not get that impression here. The food taste like it was cooked for the chef’s family.
The price is slightly higher than typical Indian restaurant, and be warned “Hot” is Indian-Hot, not American-hot.
What lets this place down is the poor service. As a group of 8, we almost felt unwelcome and had to literally beg for one glass of hot water. When the staff tells you we don’t have hot water in a place you cook hot food- that’s something!
It’s service like these that makes you think twice if you want to even leave a tip. We did eventually coz the food was great. If the management / ownership of the place is listening, you have some serious work to do to train your staff. The chef has to be really good coz the dishes were on point- both the veg and non veg options. So don’t let poor service take this beautiful place down.
I was told by the wait staff that the meat is halal, but others should verify as I could find no signage in the downtown location nor any claims online (plus, there is a bar in the back). The vegetarian dishes were good enough I’m not sure it will make a huge difference for me, but would love to be able to explore the menu more broadly!
Whats bad- Takeout is terrible.
Spicy Naan is just Naan with flakes. Not at all recommended.
Potatoe Peanut kofta is terrible. Dont order it.
P.S. Lassi is terrible. It is diluted no fat milk. That is not how Lassi is supposed to be made. It should be taken out from the Menu.
Limited Appetizer options.
Matar paneer is good.
One downside, however, was the service. There was only one person serving the food, which led to a slower-than-expected dining experience. That said, the location is great, right in the heart of downtown, making it a convenient stop after a day of sightseeing.
While the food is definitely worth the visit, it is important to note that the prices are on the higher side. Additionally, the restaurant automatically adds an 18% gratuity to the bill, which is a bit disappointing. I believe that it should be the restaurant’s responsibility to pay their staff, and customers should have the freedom to decide how much to tip.
Overall, Aroma Indian Cuisine and Bar is a great option for delicious Indian food in downtown Indianapolis. Just be prepared to pay a little extra and don’t expect speedy service.
