I’m not from here, so I can only judge based on my first visit — and wow. I’ve never had a Chicago-style hot dog before, but I absolutely loved it. At first glance, I wasn’t convinced all those flavors would work together, but it turned out to be pure magic. The Polish chili dog was also amazing. The only downside was the fries, but that’s nowhere near enough to stop me from coming back to try other items. The staff was also great. Especially the gentleman. He was very informative.

I have been living in Whiting since 2005 and Arnies has always been the best hot dog spot around. But today things changed.. i hope i can say for the better but unfortunately that’s not the case. Where do i start? The chili they have is flavorless and not good at all. Don’t let me get started on the fries they’re thin feel rubbery and taste stale. And for the biggest complaint the new hot dogs and polish sausage taste way more different than before… they can’t say they’re the same and are bought with the same vendor from before because that’s not true. The quality when downhill tremendously and that’s sad. After 21 years of being a loyal customer i will not go back again.

I’m 60 and have been going to the Whiting Arnies for lunch since I was in high school in the very early 80s. The food has always been exceptional. About 2 months ago we stopped in and we noticed a lot of updates inside such as the menu board, shirts and caps for sale and other new details. When talking with one of the grill personnel they mentioned that the restaurant has new owners. Luke’s the owners of Luke’s gas stations bought them out. The food was still good that day. I had my usual chili polish valu meal my wife an original arnies hot dog meal. we stopped in again a few weeks ago for basically the same items we had last time and i was so disappointed in the new chili. It was like a red spaghetti sauce and was TERRIBLE. the hot dog was fine as original but what was called chili was nasty. i’m typing this as we just went last night sunday night 10/26/25 as my granddaughter likes Arnies and we had the grandkids for the night. the food was good but definitely missed my ARNIES CHILI opting for polish with mustard and onion. Hope Luke’s reads these comments and goes back to the original recipes.

Wow has this places changed. Won’t ever visit again. They changed their best menu item (the fries) and basically served them 3 minutes undercooked.

Food sucks!
Not a “Chicago Dog”
No tomato or kosher pickle. Small rubber dawg. Fries under cooked soggy. Cheap unstable drink cups.
Service is incredibly slow and check your order.
Eat elsewhere!

Not a fan of the new chili, why mess with a good thing. We came all the way from crown point so my wife could have the original Arnie’s she grew up on, not the same, won’t be back

i don’t like how the quality changed after their new rebrand. this is now the worst place to get hot dogs in the area. also bring back the old fries

Hotdogs and fries with a large cold root beer hit the spot! The staff was friendly and patient while we gawked at the menu forever before ordering. The fries were everybody’s favorite. Chicago dog was perfect. I’ve also gotta give credit to the staff keeping the kitchen. As I watched them, I noticed how meticulous and careful they were while preparing the food. They took their time and made sure everything was clean. My kids are excited to make it a new tradition on our way to Chicago.
