Family owned and operated since 1978, Armando Palacios’ long-time eatery—fashioned after 1920s Mexico City—consistently is packed with friends, regulars, celebrities and local socialites who love the famous fresh-lime juice margaritas, delicious queso flameado and signature fajitas. Designed by Armando and his wife, Cinda Palacios, the restaurant is decorated with beautiful antique mirrors, an intricate sunburst latticework ceiling and rich red draperies offset by crisp, white table linens. The restaurant also houses a collection of authentic Mexican pottery and cookware showcased in dark, custom wood cabinets. The warm décor and lighting perfectly set the mood for multisensory culinary excellence.

Never got our appetizer. Fajitas burnt. Below average service. Very overpriced. One bonus star for the quality of the margarita — tasty if you order a top shelf at $20+. But lots of alternatives in Houston for a good margarita, so not sure how this place is still bringing in customers.

TAKE YOUR BUSINESS SOMEWHERE ELSE. My first and last time was last month. Restaurant didn’t have enough chairs for our reservation, food was extremely bland, it was so hot we were all sweating and they had tiny fans in some corners, a drinks took 20-30min each time we ordered. To top it off valet crashed my car, I noticed the next morning and called… I was told the manager would call me back the next day, I decided to just come in the following day and the valet was extremely aggressive with me when I explained what happened, they didn’t want to give me the company’s number. I finally got it and was told unless it was recorded in their cameras they weren’t responsible… obviously never showed me anything and stopped answering my calls.

Attended a birthday celebration here. Very nice area. Valet parking is available as well. The food was extremely tasty. Well seasoned…which is one of the top concerns I have while eating out. I do not care to add seasoning to my food while out dining. I’m not sure if it’s because we had a pretty big table, but the service was prompt and tentative. Elegance is fitting.

Heard so much about Armando’s Mexican Restaurant on Westheimer. Even the anchor on Channel 2 News promoted it numerous times. Very disappointed in the Food, ordered a meat dish was the most Tasteless meat I’ve ever had, either no spices, or they forgot to add spices to the meat, actually had No taste. Very surprised and disappointed. To add to my dismay in my visit was my trip to the men’s restroom before exiting the restaurant. Had not been cleaned and very messy, I had to carefully step around Puddles of urine throughout the bathroom floor, was similar to a restroom in a elementary school. As I left I notified the Host of the unhealthy, unsanitary, filthy restroom. She said they would “Look into it”, and did not show concern, care, or even surprised, not even looking up from her podium. Even seem to be irritated and upset that I mentioned it. The Restaurant’s interior very classy and beautiful, was the only thing they did right. Absolutely no more Armando’s for me, family and friends.

The food and service was subpar. Our server Samuel, was being trained by a server named Genesys. Samuel was awesome and super friendly but Genesys never acknowledged our table or said hello. Our first time here was a few years ago but the food and service this time was nothing like our first. Unfortunately my husband and I will not be back.
