I absolutely love this place. Full stop.
There’s always a tempting selection of sushi to choose from, and honestly, it’s hard not to over-order “just one more dish”.

The chicken karaage is a personal favourite — crispy, juicy, and dangerously moreish. The mini salad deserves a shout-out too; that dressing? Chef’s kiss.
I regularly go for the chicken yaki soba or the beef teriyaki, both beautifully cooked, full of flavour, and consistently spot on. Add gyoza as a starter and you’re winning at life.

The staff are warm, friendly, and genuinely attentive — the kind of place where you feel remembered, not processed. Every time I’m back in Fairfax County, this is the place we go. Always such a welcoming vibe.

Go-to spot for sushi. It’s a classier interior, which we appreciate. I haven’t tried their entrees because we always just get sushi. There’s a wide variety of rolls, including hand rolls (salmon skin is my favorite hand roll). Everything is fresh and tasty.

This casual Japanese restaurant, located in Fairfax Center alongside a large Walmart, Lidl Supermarket, and various other shops, truly stands out with its wide variety of entrees and drinks. The atmosphere is cozy, clean, and beautifully adorned with Japanese decorations, including bonsai plants, traditional paintings, sculptures, and aquariums, creating an authentic dining experience.

The food is consistently fresh and delicious, offering incredible value for the quality and quantity. The service is commendable, enhancing the overall dining experience.

The Sushi Omakase is outstanding, accompanied by a flavorful miso soup with katsuobushi (bonito flakes) and a delightful house salad. The omakase came with expertly curated appetizers, featuring tempura (shrimp and whiting fish), a refreshing tuna and avocado ginger salad, and agedashi tofu. The chef’s selection of 10 pieces of nigiri sushi is exceptional—each piece is fresh and provides a melt-in-your-mouth experience.

The Chirashi is equally fantastic, served with perfectly seasoned rice and fresh sashimi. It’s a visual and culinary delight that leaves a lasting impression.

We were first introduced to this restaurant living in Sacramento, so when we found out there was a restaurant here we had to try it out. The environment is nice, smaller than what we’re accustomed to but everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Some menu items weren’t listed but I’m sure they’d be able to make it if asked. One thing they do not offer is the 50% off sushi rolls menu. I decided to try their Bi Bim Bop and it was absolutely delicious. My husband ordered 2 rolls (Lion King and Golden Bridge) both delicious and our son ordered the Katsu Curry which he also enjoyed. We would recommend this place to others and will intend on visiting again when we’re in the area.

Truly the worst sushi I’ve had, and we’ve eaten a lot of sushi in this area and on the west coast. Nigiri was okay, but the rolls were gross. Didn’t taste fresh or look appealing (there was almost a musty taste to the rolls), and the chopped up fish in the them was an unappealing texture. I wish I had not let a friend convince me to go here for lunch instead of one of my regular sushi places. Didn’t eat much and brought my leftovers home to my husband who pronounced them gross after a few pieces.

Best sushi restaurant around, they’ve been there for years and the quality is better than any other place I’ve been. I love trying new rolls but I’m often disappointed at other places, where as Arigato is always perfection! Love the Chesapeake roll, rainbow roll, negi toro maki, unaki maki, and golden bridge roll!!! Tempura & kitsu apps are also delicious everytime as well as the chicken fried rice, it’s so fresh tasting & fluffy and not greasy like other places. You can’t go wrong with the sushi/sashimi special, its a nice combo with lots of different bites. You really can’t go wrong with anything here!!!!!

I recently dined at this sushi restaurant and was blown away by the amazing flavors and presentation of the dishes.
From the moment I walked in, the service was impeccable – friendly and attentive without being overbearing.
The sushi itself was some of the best I’ve ever had – the fish was incredibly fresh and the rice perfectly seasoned.
The chef clearly took great care in preparing each dish, and it showed in the delicious taste and beautiful presentation.
Overall, I had an amazing experience at this sushi restaurant and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience. We had Calamari Tempura, California Roll, Volcano Roll, Kitsune Roll.

Update:The tuna gave me bad diarreah. Definitely won’t eat here again. Reduced my 3-star review to 2.

I should preface by saying that sushi is my favorite food, and I’ve eaten it all over the country. The sushi at this place was a real mixed bag. Some things were done really well, and some were not. Ultimately, I won’t be returning.

Pros:
1) The fresh salmon was delicious. It’s diced up into small pieces, which I wasn’t expecting, but it still tasted great. See picture.
2) The fish-to-rice ratio was perfect. Not too much rice.
3) The sushi rice was perfectly cooked.
4) The green tea was really good and very fairly priced.
5) We were seated immediately, and the restaurant is clean and decorated nicely.
6) The sushi came quickly, but at a cost, because it was a little messy. It did not look attractive. See pictures.
7) I asked to leave jalapeños out of a pre-mixed roll, and they made a version of the roll from scratch without jalapeños.

Cons:
1) The ahi tuna was super fishy, and it was ground, even in the tuna avocado roll. It was not the texture that I was looking forward to. I wasn’t able to finish it, mainly because of how fishy it was.
2) The prices were a bit high, even for sushi.
3) The service was not very friendly and not attentive. I was never offered a drink refill or even water, and I had to catch the server three times, including to order and to pay the bill. They were a little busy, but not anything crazy.
4) The sesame seeds were over-toasted, which made them override the flavors of the fish.
5) As noted above, the sushi was hastily made and looked sloppy.
