My favorite was the mushroom “escargot” (much more memorable than regular escargot) and my partner’s favorite was the carrot tartare. The chamomile bourbon soda was also tasty—their happy hour specials were a great value. Already wanna plan my next visit to try more!!
– The atmosphere; the space is really chic and there’s something cool about being inside of a wine store, too 🙂
– I’m French and thought the food was EXCELLENT
– The menu was so vegetable-forward in the best way. We tried so much that was on the menu and left feeling great rather than weighed down
– Favorite bites: The mushroom “escargot” and carrot tartar!
– Even the French onion soup was made with vegetable broth and it was awesomely flavored
– We tried all of the desserts which were also so worth it
– Bottles of wine were really, really well-priced
Can’t wait to go back.
We saw this place on an Instagram reel and decided to treat ourselves to a nice brunch date. We were not disappointed.
The menu had a nice variety and it was hard to just choose a few things! Everything we ordered blew us away. We liked the food so much, we plan on trying the dinner offerings next month.
Location-wise, Argot is very accessible and the space is superb, coming off as elegant but not stuffy, like some similar places in the area can.
Highly recommended for any foodie or someone looking for a special spot without blowing the bank.

We went back for dinner recently as well and were not disappointed. Everything was delicious with a nice variety to satisfy even the pickiest eater in our group.
For appetizers, we shared an argula salad, which came with plenty of toppings and a great dressing. My fiance also ordered a mini wagyu burger from the happy hour menu, which he loved. He said it was bigger than he expected, but a great little appetizer size or for anyone who likes meat, but not enough to order the whole burger entree.
Our entrees were exquisite. I had the Four Star Mushrooms, which was a medley of local/foraged mushrooms atop a root vegetable puree. It sounds very simple, but it was an amazingly flavorful dish. The meatiness of the mushrooms with the subtle sweetness of the puree was filling without being overly rich.
My fiance ordered Le Poisson, the Lake Superior Whitefish with lentils du puy, and creme fraiche fume. The fish was perfectly flaky and tender. And the dish in full was tangy and slightly acidic with a citrusy freshness.
We were full, but not too full for desserts. I’d recommend you share a dessert, because we ordered our own and were a little overwhelmed with the sizes of them! We swapped desserts halfway through, though, so it all worked out. I ordered the raspberry tart, which was an incredible slightly tart raspberry sauce with a fresh, marshmallow-y topping on top of a brown butter shortbread cookie almost the size of my hand (I’m 5’1″ so my hand isn’t that big but it was still an impressively sized cookie). My fiance ordered the cookies and milk, which infused the classic flavors of winter—vanilla, brown sugar, and cardamom—into a pleasant, not too heavy dessert served on a fanciful floral set of a teacup and saucer. A cup of coffee would pair perfectly with either of those desserts! Argot uses coffee beans from Anticonquista cafe, which harvests the beans from their family land in Guatemala and roasts them in Chicago.
We were very impressed by our whole experience ar Argot, and we’re excited to see them thrive!

We had the bread & butter, mushroom “escargot”, savory tart, French onion soup, Frisée er lardon salad, and Crozet de savoie. Flavors were interesting, fresh, and delicious!
