This past Saturday, my wife and I discovered this gem, a charming Venezuelan café near Twinbrook Metro. After a few rainy days, the sunshine called us out, and we were so glad we went. The vibe is relaxed, perfect for a casual coffee or a laptop session, but the food is where it truly shines.
We dove into arepas just like home, comforting and delicious. The staff were incredibly welcoming, effortlessly switching between Spanish and English. The owner personally greeted us and showed a genuine passion for authenticity, even explaining why they don’t yet serve cachapas she’s waiting until she can source the perfect traditional ingredients.
The portions were generous, the prices fair, and the atmosphere just right. We’ll definitely be back, and I’ve already recommended it to all my Venezuelan friends. If you’re curious about Venezuelan comfort food, this is a perfect spot!

Stopped by for a late lunch with my mother and was met with such a warm greeting. I ordered the Domino o mine arepa with plantains, black beans, and queso de mano. My mother, an hervido de res (bee soup) with an order of tequeños. Let me just start by saying that everything is made in house and you could tell the food was made with love. It reminded me of a family recipe that they had the pleasure of sharing with us. My arepa and my mother’s soup were especially bold in flavor and were so filling. The tequeños were amazing and the cheese allowed for a great cheese pull. But… the showstopper for me was their tres leches. The flavor is so rich!!!! The portions themselves are also worth noting, I definitely had enough for the next day!!! I highly suggest stopping by and would definitely come back. Thank you so much!!!

I stopped by looking for a quick coffee shop. Right after I ordered my chai tea latte, my phone died! One of the owners who was taking my order, quickly sprang into action. She provided me a Samsung compatible charger (which a lot of places don’t have or simply don’t want to help with). I was incredibly relieved, because I’m not from this area! She made me feel super comfortable. While waiting I ordered the brisket arepa, super delicious, fresh, and generous with the meat. All staff was friendly , and very accommodating. I’ll be giving them my business when I’m around

The food and coffee were absolutely delicious! We got flat whites, a guava and cheese bread, a ham and cheese bread, and the breakfast arepa. All so yummy and it’s such a cozy comfortable place to sit and eat. Will definitely be back!

I went in to grab a traditional cheese arepa, but I was surprised to find it filled with shredded cheddar cheese instead of the traditional queso fresco. I wasn’t aware that there is a difference between Venezuelan arepas and Colombian arepas. Despite this, I decided to try it, but unfortunately, it was very hard and had a stale taste. The cheese wasn’t melted, making it difficult to eat. I’m not sure what advice I could offer for improvement, so I’ll view my purchase as a donation to the restaurant. However, the customer service was excellent, and they are located in a prime area.

Delicious arepas!! They also have a few options for vegetarians and a pretty broad selection of beverages! Service was really fast too!

This is truly a hidden gem. You have to give the breakfast arepa with hot chocolate a try. The shop is quiet with plenty of sitting area. The hot chocolate is made in house and is not overly sugary. There is a nice wine selection and the staff is so nice. You have to make a stop here.

The food is off the charts! The arepas and tequeños are fresh, generous and made with quality ingredients. The service is excellent and they even have their own brand of bottled “papelon” with some innovative flavors. The wine curation is fantastic. Yesterday I had a chicken soup and it feels like being back home.

I recently visited this amazing Venezuelan restaurant that I absolutely loved! Their arepas are reinvented with authentic flavors, offering a fresh take on traditional dishes. The quality of the products and ingredients is truly exquisite. My favorite was the Crunchy Reina Arepa — a creative twist on the classic Reina Pepiada, topped with crispy fried chicken skin pieces that added an incredible crunch and flavor.
The Papelón with ginger juice was delicious; both the bottle design and presentation were phenomenal, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The restaurant has a liquor license and used to sell wines previously, so besides delicious food, you can find a wide variety of wines, champagnes, and beers. I really loved their self-service concept with a cooler full of daily drink specials that you can grab yourself — super convenient and fun!
For dessert, I highly recommend the Tres Leches cake. It was perfectly sweet without being overwhelming, with a delightful cookie (like pound cake) touch inside that made it extra special.
The place is very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The warm, home-like atmosphere stood out — a lovely young lady greeted me with kindness, patiently explained the menu, and gave thoughtful recommendations without any rush.
I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who shared the beautiful family concept behind this project. This Venezuelan food spot is definitely a must-visit for anyone craving authentic yet innovative Latin American cuisine with top-notch service. Highly recommended for food lovers looking for genuine flavors and a welcoming vibe! I will definitely be back.

Arepateca is honestly a great place to eat arepas and Latin food. The arepas are really fresh and full of flavor, and one of my favorite things is going there for breakfast and having an arepa with a hot chocolate. It really feels like home.
They offer a lot more than just arepas too. They have coffee, breakfast options, lunch, dinner, beers, and even a nice variety of wines. It’s one of those spots where you can go at any time of the day and always find something good.
The customer service is great. Everyone is friendly, they greet you well, help you with the menu if you need it, and you can tell they care about giving you a good experience.
And the tres leches cake is amazing. One of the best I’ve had.
Overall, Arepateca is a place that is great to have in the neighborhood
