Walked in and the bartender was very nice and professional right away. Shortly after, our whole group came in and basically took over most of the bar, except for the far end where the bartender had about 3–4 family members sitting.
Our food came out quickly after we ordered. I knew the prices were a bit on the higher side, but I really wanted to try the lemon pepper tacos. Unfortunately, they were just okay. My friend had to eat her beans cold because the bartender forgot to give her a spoon and we had to ask for it twice so they hardly touched them.
During my visit I had two tacos with rice and beans, a vodka soda, and a draft beer. When I asked for my bill, it came out to around $17–$18, which seemed odd for what I ordered. I assumed maybe something had been discounted since we had brought in a decent crowd and had been chatting with the bartender. I signed the tab and left a good tip based on the total.
Right before I left, the bartender randomly asked if my friend and I were sisters and said she asked because I gave “big sister vibes” after buying my friend a drink earlier. I was a bit confused by the comment but didn’t think much of it at the time but me and my friend agreed I never said that.
After I left, my friends called saying it looked like I had walked out on a $45 tab. I immediately called the bar because I had asked for my bill and paid the one I was given. Apparently the bartender assumed I was paying for my friend’s drink (a double vodka Red Bull that was over $17)
To make things more confusing, this place also adds automatic gratuity, which wasn’t mentioned to me when I received my bill (though I overheard her explaining it to another couple afterward). She also watched me get up and leave and never mentioned that another tab was still open.
I’ve never walked out on a tab, so this was clearly a misunderstanding. Still, clearer communication could have avoided the situation. Between the confusion, the high prices for basic drinks, and the mediocre food, the experience was disappointing. It’s unfortunate because we were really excited to try this place. In total I ended up paying $73.00 for lunch in a strip mall bar and grill. Insane.

The boneless chicken wings were too big and dry. I would not order them again. The fries were delicious. The burrito was mediocre. Overall, the service was great. Area 51 had a bit of an odor, like maybe wet wood smell. I didnt like the smell.

I tried Area 51 with some friends a few weeks ago and met the owner he is a very nice guy and cares about his costumer’s. Awesome place and amazing food. I tried the birria tacos, they were a 10/10. Also tried them on DoorDash I got the chicken lemon pepper tacos and wowwww sooo good!! I will keep coming back!

Had an amazing lunch at Area 51! Highly recommend the catfish. If you want a boost of flavor, ask for it lemon pepper style. I also had the lemon pepper taco, quesabirria taco, and the wings (Jamaican jerk dry rub and sweet & spicy BBQ), and everything was on point—especially the house ginger ale
Shoutout to Cely, my server. She was super cool & laid back, incredibly kind, and made great recommendations. Run, don’t walk, to Area 51 for an unforgettable dining experience & definitely ask for Cely!

Highly recommend. Staff was very friendly. Food was amazing. Tried one of each of the tacos and all are amazing. Will say the ground beef was just a boring one. Now that lemon pepper take was absolutely fire . Will definitely be back
