I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a couple of years now and I was so excited to have finally been able to! I am just coming out of the hospital after intensive internal radiation for stage 4 cancer, so I was unable to go in person unfortunately, and had to have my order DoorDashed, but I was still so excited to be able to try it, given the wonderful reviews it has!
Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience. I really wanted to try the oxtails, but those are a pickup only item according to doordash. So I went with the jerk chicken that also has excellent reviews. This was the only entree that we ordered, as my husband is afraid of spice, he was just going to try my food. We ordered several sides as well, truffle mac, collard greens, cabbage, beef patties, oxtail fries, strawberry cheesecake, and a side of the mango salsa.
Unfortunately, we received a message from our DoorDasher saying that they were out of truffle mac and jerk chicken, saying that they could substitute it for another dish which was fine with me, but then was told that the store refunded the cost of the out of stock items instead. This was the only entree that we ordered and given the store wasn’t going to substitute, there was not much point in continuing with the order at all, considering that we were still going to wind up having to order dinner from somewhere else. I communicated to the DoorDasher that if the items couldn’t be substituted I would need to cancel the order, at which point the DoorDasher abandoned our order all together. I tried to contact the store several times, there was no answer, it went straight to a voicemail box that was not set up. I tried again to get back in touch with the next DoorDasher that picked up our order, and was met with no response, either from the DoorDasher or the store. When our order arrived, it consisted of oxtail fries, collard greens, cabbage, two beef patties, and one mango salsa. Although we were refunded for the jerk chicken and truffle mac, the strawberry cheesecake was not refunded and was not included in our order, when it was all said and done we paid over $35 for four sides. My husband and I each split the sides, but were still hungry an overall disappointed in the experience.
I leave reviews at every restaurant, so I will leave a review at this one as well. As regards to what food we did get.
Oxtail fries: really delicious, 8/10.
Collard greens: pretty good, lots of vinegar though. 7/10.
Cabbage: tasty but basic. 5/10.
Beef patties: pretty good. 5/10.
Mango salsa: absolutely fantastic. 10/10.
Overall experience with this restaurant: 1/10. I really wish I could have rated this restaurant higher, I was so excited to eat here. But the frustration due to lack of communication, only getting a fraction of what we ordered and being charged for items that I didn’t receive, superseded my excitement and ultimately the sides that we did get just weren’t delicious enough for us to eat here again. A disappointing experience overall.

I’m very thankful for all the great service that I received at Archie’s Tropical Cuisines. Your restaurant is an example of the heart and soul of Jamaica, I enjoyed seeing all of the pictures that shows off the talent and the work of liberation of the island. I was met with kindness and warmth from a beautiful young lady. The customer service is above reproach. So, I had the pleasure of experiencing some chicken wings with both the jerk and habanero sauce. The habanero really makes your mouth water and the jerk takes you to the sweet and spicy influence of Jamaica. Both of these culinary treats are very spicy indeed so make sure you ask for a sample to see if it is right for your pallet. Thank you once again Archie for the amazing and delicious jerk treat. I hope more people come your way to experience the delightful customer service and magnificent food.

The food was great! I’m a foodie and couldn’t stop eating to post my food!!! I had the African stew, candied yams and Mac and cheese! My finance had the snappier collards and rice and beans and my bonus daughter had the bbq wings! We enjoyed it all. Will come again!!!!

First time being to Archie’s. It did not disappoint. Ordered the coconut shrimp and it’s enough to share. Delicious. Then I had the oxtails, rice and peas and greens. Man! Oxtail was on point. So tender and plentiful. Will definitely go back. Staff are very friendly.

My husband and I just got home and was finally able to taste the food…OMG!!! THE BEST OXTAIL OUT HERE IN SALISBURY AND THE HONEY HOT/GOLDEN WINGS THE OWNER RECOMMENDED ARE GREAT TOO!!! I’m more so happy with the level of customer service we received, that always make the food taste better. Thank you again, we’ll definitely be back!!! Maaaannn I put my phone down for a sec to taste another wing and it’s really THAT GOOD!

Archies Tropical Cuisines is “the real deal”. The food is outstanding, authentic and delicious. We have had the curry chicken, jerk chicken, brown stew chicken oxtails, rice and peas, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and plantains. Each dish was prepared to perfection.
Michael made us feel like we were family and we felt the love they put into their craft of providing delicious food with a focus on how they treat each customer with respect.
If you are craving some delicious and authentic food, then I would definitely recommend you try it. You will not be disappointed.

This little restaurant is really big on quality, flavor, friendliness, and service. We were just spending a night in Salisbury, tired from traveling. Thought this place had some positive reviews and decided to try it out. So glad we did. The owners are super friendly and helpful, The food is delicious and fresh. We are very glad to have stopped here and will certainly come back whenever we are anywhere near Salisbury!
